Face reality Dangle, goalies are injury-prone with one aging rapidly. Defence also getting older, so won't get better but still solid. Offence is still there, but if Matthews bolts back to the US where he belongs that will be the end.
the guy actually regressed in his last season in the OHL…at 20 years old. Playing for the best junior team in Canada. And hasn't proven anything at the pro level either playing against grown men. Honestly, the Leafs should have traded him a year before when his value was at its highest for immediate, NHL proven help.
I actually dont think he's all that tenacious. Instead of Konecny-lite I could sorta see Raymond-lite. He's a better skater than Kadri, and mostly a facilitator, so I dont mind that comparison as well.

Nick Robinson….no lie…maybe a little better, but when he plays with kids his own age and talent at WJ he 3 point in 5 games as a over age. This is the same with the knights just over a point per game as a over ageer….Im sorry it looks like a 3rd liner at best.

Marner is top 3 RW in the league. Steve don't be a fool with that comment. Hopefully Cowan has a better 200ft game then Konecny. Konecny in 9 seasons is only a plus player in 2 seasons.
Every first rounder in the final season of jr, have a big point production. Cowan hopefully pans out as a solid middle six forward.

Konecny is an elite skater with elite skills. Cowan has neither of those. He'll be a middle 6er.
Cowan has been on an all star team with London. Didnt show well at either WJCs, or NHL pre season. Ppl gotta reel it in with their expectations.

I'm curious what you guys think moving forward waaaay into the future for next summer's FA class. Obviously we all want McD in a Leafs jersey. Though outside of that is there anyone you could see the Leafs targeting next summer? My thoughts are that some will re-sign with their current teams – guys like Eichel and Makar. Ideally I would like to see McTavish up the middle or maybe even Shane Wright via trade, but if they do simply go down the road of FA, some names come to mind like Kempe, Robertson, Necas and even Laine. I think Laine is a wild card and it's so weird to see that he's still carried some level of toxicity where he goes, but man if he ever figured that out and lined up next to Matthews and Knies, that's basically Legion of Doom material. Though I also think going for someone like Kempe or Robertson also gives them size and skill up front which would be great on the top unit. Though also intrigued by Necas down the middle should they not secure a good second line centre like Wright or McTavish. Really I want someone to take Rielly's spot on D, but doesn't appear to be anyone available through FA, unfortunately. This year might be a weird transitional year so I feel like Treliving is probably already looking down the road to that FA class of 2026. Just wanted to get your thoughts on it.
