  1. Been a RW fan most of my days and, no podcasters, from watching Seider play on the ice, don't know about the others you mentioned, but I don't think he's even close to playing like Cal Makar. Makar is good defensively and he's great offensively. These podcasters talk like Seider is on the ice the whole game (60 minutes). Seider has plenty of room to grow. If he doesn't do that in the next couple of years, especially on offense, I think the Wings will have wasted too much money on this guy. I don't care if these podcasters think he's great defensively. He blew several assignments over the years including last year, while the Wings were trying to land a spot as a wildcard. These podcasters will not call out Seider for the mistakes he makes. Everybody knows he's made mistakes allowing the opposing team to win battles down the stretch before the playoffs , i.e. case in point, twice in a game against the Blues. He doesn't score or get enough points in a season. You can't place Seider as a "go to" player when he can't play offense as well as players like Makar, Potvin, Lidstrom, or Bobby Orr. If he can't run a blue line and be a threat himself, the Wings will have wasted money on this guy.

  2. Big Rasmussen is pretty fast for a man his size, he's like a freight train on a rush down the left wing. Opponent D men have no option but to stop and block him from getting to the slot. Then he more often than not goes behind the net and with his long reach tries to go back door or a flip pass into the slot hoping a team mate will get a stick on it in net front chaos. He doesn't seem to try anything different though. I don't think he realizes how much time and space he has created for himself? He should try something different and hold on to the puck behind the net and buy time for team mates to get better set up in scoring positions.

  3. Seider: More of the same, since we didn't upgrade the D. I'd love if he got more offensive deployments, but when we have a black hole on D when he's not on the ice, well, I don't expect much change.

Ras: I am not now nor have I ever been a Rasmussen guy. He's big. That's like all he has going for him. Would not mind him being a trade piece tbh.

Appleton: Unfortunately, I know nothing of Appleton. I guess I'm expecting him to be in the Motte role, but hopefully better. I think you guys have Motte way too high of a grade on your season report cards. I think you had him in met or below expectations, but to me he had to go in failed expectations. We brought him in to improve the PK and the team defense. Our team defense was awful, and how PK was one of the worst in NHL history. That was more of a Motte rant than an Appleton one, but hopefully he's an upgrade to our bottom 6.

  4. Mo needs to change his nature a little bit, and get meaner. Start being a bully sometimes. And answer nastiness for nastiness. I saw him multiple times last year after the whistle while holding a guy off, the guy punched him in the face, once, twice, etc, Mo just took it. This is not good. I also just rewatched his fight w Forsberg from March 2024. It took him a minute to warm up and dig out the tough self from beneath the layers of weak surface self. But he did it and he won big. He needs to find that guy all the time, or much more quickly anyway.

  5. Seider playing the hardest minutes in the league is based on some advanced stats? There are a bunch of defenceman in the league playing big minutes with defensive assignments

  6. Also just his general energy and vibe seemed very off to me a lot of last year. It was like him and Raymond both were a little checked out after the big contracts. Going thru the motions. Not sharp. Not intense. And it didn't change w the coaching change.

  7. You make it sound like Seider is the only defenseman Detroit has. You would not be happy with a top 4 dman playing beside him. He wouldn't be good enough to play with Seider. Maybe Seider isn't the defenseman you put on that pedestal.

  8. With Raz, big difference between before his kneecap broke and after. Mobility seems ok, but not going after puck in corners and not being big presence on ice. Was someone that others wanted to play with, to someone who is just another winger.

  9. The seider hate in this comment section is crazy. I think seider does have room to grow. Our assistant coach Trent yanni (might have butchered his name) has a great track record with developing young defenceman. I’m also interested to see how he helps edvinsson.

  10. If Seider is the best defenseman, the Wings have for the next 7 years, the Wings aren't doing anything. He can't get better offensively because he is an average skater.

  11. Idk about Ras having a mean streak..I guess..anyone remember him basically slapping a guy when he was supposed to be throwing fists last year? Someone teach him to fight PLEASE!

  12. I think it’s less, “can seider grow” and more, “can they unlock” seider by giving him a legit top pair D partner. He’s restricted because of the fact he has to drag that top pair kicking and screaming though the entire season

  13. Not sure Seider can get much better. Right now he is pretty damn good. Durable he can play in any situation he eats up lot of minutes . He's a true workhorse for them. Plus he adds a decent amount of offense
