1. They should make it. They looked great skating along with good teammates and powerplays. Most of the time they will be in 3 line, depending scenarios 2 and maybe 1 line

  2. My vote – they should both make the team. But if I had to pick one: while Mercer looks like a more complete player, Holtz's skill set is really lacking across the rest of the team, so I think he is a safer bet of making the team. Only counter point I would make is that if either will end up with limited ice team, would it make more sense for their development to get 1st line minutes in the AHL for half or a full season. Their contract status' I think give the devils more flexibility there if they wanted to start them in the AHL.

  3. I'm a little confused about Mercer's eligibility. As a 19 year old with "junior" status, can he play in AHL? Or can he only go to juniors?

  4. They've definitely shown enough to be given an opportunity. If during the regular season they show signs of faltering they can always be sent down to Utica for seasoning.
If Comcast and MSG can't play nice, consider switching to FuboTV. I dropped cable and use that to watch NJD games.

  5. I think definitely Mercer, probably Holtz, too.
I think Vesey, gets a small cap hit two way contract and sits in Utica, until his number is called.

  6. Devils organization would be stupid not to give these boys at least 6-9 games they’ve been the best players on the ice clear cut but overall everyone’s seems to be playing very well together great chemistry.

  7. I think they gotta make it. They bring so much enthusiasm and hope! Comcast.. 🙁 The Verizon guy is coming Saturday. lol I can't be missing 1/2 season or more.

  8. Not sure if Holtz will start the season in the NHL, but i can see a 3rd line by the end of the season with Holtz, Mercer and Koukkanen….

  9. Sharangovich-Hughes-holtz
    Zacha-hischer-Bratt
    Tatar-Mercer- woods
    Kuokkanen-McLeod-Johnson/vesey/boqvist

    Hamilton-graves
    Smith-severson
    Siegentahler-subban

That should 100% be our lineup to start the season
