Which prospect do YOU want to see make the big club this year?
Jets have alot of what ifs they are hindering on being playoff team or retool…
1. Connor contract if he doesnt sign the best return imo is Detroit.
Kasper(21) top 6 center+Danielson(20) similar tk Yager played wheat kings and a pick.
2. Like you mentioned Toews situation is a big what if.
3. Lowry surgery and how he looks when returns last year looked like could fill 2C if needed but if he loses steps he is UFA next year i want him be lifelong jet even if its bottom 6/4th line when older.
4. Have to hope Scheifele or Hellebuyck dont get iniured.
If jets resign connor go all in trade for another big name and win a cup. Get a Barzal/Horvat,Schenn,ORielly,Kadri,McCann like talked about last deadline.
Now Jets@Noon brought up good point if bigger names have us no trade and whatever. Why not move a Chibrikov,Lambert,Barlow package for another more developed RFA who can help rn and future.
Guys like Mercer who i like 23yrs old is 3rd line and has no shot moving up with Hischier and Hughes ahead of him.
I agree with them cap wise and team if you offered a
Lambert+2nd maybe a Gus/Heinola or stanley package since odds are we lose 1 for nothing waivers why not do it!
They mentioned Mctavish doing that giving a package of young guys whoeverr picks,Lambert,Barlow,Chibrikov, Freijs,Walton,Barron,Stanley,Heinola for a guy like him sign him 7m or whatever hes asking for long term.

And push youth onto team/retool quick
Keep Toews,Lowry,Scheifele main guys who can show youth to be pros/care about team/city anyone else move on from have discussions behind scenes.
I rather have a younger team with potential then a wrong side of 30s team waiting to rebuild.

Is still setting jets up for a brighter future because i dont think team could withstand a full blown rebuild financially.
Lowry,Hellebuyck and Scheifele are 32 turning 33 next year. This window is closed imo the best thing is retool in 1-2yrs while still have those guys and pass this gen to a new generation.
When 2.0 came back you had Ladd,Byfuglien,Little,Pavelec,Enstrom gen1
They passed it to
Scheifele,Morrissey,Lowry,Wheeler
Now I feel it's time for us to obtain RFA or pass it on have vets mentioned above show young guys ropes. It's not beneficial having plugs who arnt part of future take spots just for 1 season like Kuhlman,AJF,Toninato,kupari ect.
Yager will lose a year on his ELC whether he plays 0 games or 82 games in the nhl this year. It can’t slide any more
