2 years ago Hughes said "We have lots of centres, it's a question of who plays well with the group." Someone will step up to the plate from within, hell I bet every player is salivating at the thought of playing between Demidov & Laine. Jake Evans played really well with Demidov the other day for example, what if? I'd love to see Evans catch a break, MSL will figure it out. Thanks Coach!
If the Habs want to add a good center in the lineup, they should consider trading Hage, given the fact that he will not be able to contribute significantly until some 3-4 years, around the time Suzuki will turn 30, it's kind of late. A package of Hage+Beck and a draft pick might be attractive to other teams.

I have to agree but… Dach's and Newhooks faceoff percentages are worse, just saying. I'm unsure but McCann isn't much physically/hits either, he's not the answer. At the same time, a younger left shot top 6 center that can play PK and good at faceoffs with size/physicality is going to cost a significant player(s) plus a 1st round pick and later picks. I say stick with what they have…if Dach returns, Veleno makes the team there's 12 forwards and Kapanen and Beck are already blocked…so to trade for a center means trading a roster forward (or two). Hughes doesn't have the chips he's willing to part with. Gallagher, Anderson, Dach, Newhook won't cut it. Then there's Bolduc…can he improve his faceoffs? Other than that, he's probably capable of playing center. I don't think Hughes does anything unless he pulls off a magic trick…some crazy 3 way deal involving Price's contract, unlikely. Wait it out another year or two see what unfolds from the pipeline, there's no deep playoff run in that time frame anyways, realistically. Is Hughes shopping? Yes, it's his job. Probably not buying though.
