    No disagreement with the team placement, but it's not just Seider and Edvinsson, Albert Johansson played well as a rookie and he's in the same tier as Kleven who you guys gave credit for.

    I had the exact same order sorted out in my head. I will say Sanderson is better than Hedman at this point, accounting for age. Hedman has been a superstar forever, but I still think that next year Jake the Snake will be significanty better than Hedman.

    Tanev absorbs hits, check out his how many times he was hit stat. No other D-man in the league has taken more hits. He is a warrior that takes the punishment and still comes up with the puck and snuffs out plays to clear pucks to move it out of the zone. He doesn't dish out hits but he is always in the right position.

    Sorry buds! But on potential only..montreal comes in at #2 , behind florida..Sanderson is the only name anyone knows from Ottawa..

    I wonder why you didn't just power rank all 48 and add them up that way? Keeps it artificially close doesn't it.

    Only other thing I'd say is Zadorov is overrated as a 3rd D. He should be a bottom pair on a good team.

    Think you guys are overrating mcdonagh a little bit and maybe ekblad too. Think Dobson, Chabot, tanev are better than those two (mcdonagh at least)

    I like the Habs dcore until they have to play defense then it's a big problem. Their 3 best defensemen 2 are offensemen and the other is Dobson who has terrible hockey IQ in the dzone. They got potential but still a lot of maturing needed from a few of their dmen. I'd probably have the Sabres dcore above them going into this season but I'd expect Montreal to end the season as the better dcore if that makes sense

    Hedman can play defense but he hasn't very much the past couple seasons his defensive numbers are pretty bad compared to what you might think. Hes slowed down a ton and sacrificed a lot of his defensive game for the offense. I think you guys are a bit high on his overall game

    I think Montreal are ranked proportional to their overall D. It’s going to be interesting how they share those offensive minutes between Hutson, Dobson, and Matheson. Plus where does it put them on the penalty kill and defensive assignments with those three

    Seider has been paired with Chiarot so much for a reason. Derek Lalonde and Todd McLellan aren't idiots. Chiarot passes the eye test almost every game. Edvinsson and Johansson are good. Gustafsson can bounce back and be fine on the third pair, and most people are feeling hopeful about JBD.

    The Wings' defensive struggles have been as a 5 man unit. They don't get pinned in the defensive zone just because of 2 players. The way people talk about their actual defensemen is ridiculous. They're fine. Not gonna pretend we have the most amazing corps in the league, but it's fine.
