Of course Malkin should end up with the Penguins, I don't think trading him for some 3rd round of the draft makes sense
he is not going anywhere
This all hinges on the Current Ownership negotiations. If the 66 group is successful. Both 87 71 and Letang will finish their careers in Pittsburgh.
If The 66 group is non successful. All 3 will leave. Rightnow the group from Chicago looks like the front runner. But you never count out 66
Trading Geno makes no sense for anyone but the team that would acquire him. Pens don't want him gone because they have between nothing and zero for top 6 centers in the coming 2 years. Malkin doesn't want to go. If he were to ask Dubas he wanted to chase a cup elsewhere, I think Dubas does his best to accommodate to 'do right by Geno'. But he doesn't and has a full NMC. Let's not forget his numbers are still that of a good 2nd line center at a cheap deal that expires. You're not getting a bucket of first rounders from anyone either. If a team gave up two 1st round picks, no lottery protection for 2026 plus a second pair LHD, THEN I ask Geno if he's interested in leaving, not a minute before. And no one would offer that. Stop trying to crap on these guys' legacy for clicks.
It would be the dumbest thing for Crosby to stay
Penguins need a rebuild, they will need top 5 picks and so long as Crosby there he won’t be ok with losing every season
Best thing would be to trade him, get picks young assets, Pens tank get a couple of 1st – 3rd overall picks
Crosby plays out this contract on a different team then maybe comes back for 1-2 runs with the new look Pens
Anyone wanting Crosby to stay wants him to be on a bad team for next 2-3 years
Selfish
To me, Geno has earned the right to decide if he wants to be traded. He has a full NTC/NMC.
