Marner also likes to slant the car jacking as he was car jacked because of who he is not – he was driving one of the most targeted cars in the GTA for theft and he was just a random hit
yeah no fan of any sport should go to those measures. That's as barbaric and stupid as it gets. We all get it….though he did lead the team at a PPG in the playoffs, he was also a minus player and had some horrific gaffes at horrible times. I think no matter the points, the leadership just wasn't purely there with any consistency, so for Leaf fans I think that was the most frustrating. The mental shut down was very prevalent. All the way back to the first contract negotiation his dad was all over it saying that his son deserves McDavid money. I mean, great to support your son, but also quite evident that the team (in the eyes of the media and fans) appeared to have come second. I think Marner played his heart out for this team for sure, but at the end of the day these failures were always about the young guys taking too much and not putting themselves in the position to be a true winning team in that way. I think Nylander and Matthews did show more maturity in their game than Marner and were far less fickle to the media and fans than Marner, unfortunately. It sucks. I wish the leadership was better on this team. I wish that these guys could've pulled it off. I wish Marner all the best in Vegas. Just tough that these things happened to him, but I also feel like the frustration went both ways for sure for good reason. So in that I agree with Dangle here. Nobody should have to deal with that. Though parts of this team was a little entitled and perhaps some still are. Time to hammer it down. Be a mature team. I still think they'll struggle this coming year. Hoping for big moves in next year's FA. Such a mess. Hoping for the best.
Can’t be mad at someone for propagating a narrative when all you do is spin.
I have been a huge fan of Marner's talent – under appreciated play on both sides of the puck. That said, I think he is just another entitled Millennial who didn't know how to take accountability for his failures and this created a huge gap between him and a significant portion if the fanbase. A boy-man who couldn't control his "team" or accept critique. The threats were just noise and an excuse because at the end of the day they wouldn't have happened if he knew how to step up like a man and talk the the fans and showed he really cared about something other than himself.

Both Marner and Ferris are full of it. There was no reason for any of this after the fact. Opinions of this player were set long ago, and it just shows how out of touch with the real underlying issues Marner and his group have always been. Mitch claiming that this came down to some inexcusable actions by fans after this year's loss to the Cats is beyond desperate, especially when news came out that he had already decided to leave over a year ago, that he and his family were shopping for homes in Vegas at a short break in the season, plus several hints from players and insiders throughout the year.
Mitch's father was attacked because he was known throughout Ontario to be the epitome of an overbearing hockey dad, and that continued when he became the father of a prominent Maple Leaf. He routinely made critical comments about other players in support of his son until someone finally convinced him to button it.
Mitch's Mom allegedly had already earned a reputation for being condescending to the mothers of other Leaf players, and it supposedly came to a boil on an early Mom's trip.
Ferris' methods of campaigning for his client hurt the bargaining power of other Leafs and the roster construction of the team. On and on, but these two clowns always blamed the team and the fans. The majority of fans have wanted to move on longer than Mitch, despite his prodigious talent.

That all said, the book on marner and his family all the way back to junior is that marner didn’t handle criticism well, his father in particular couldn’t accept any possible insinuation that Mitch wasn’t the absolute best and that’s played out in the Toronto fishbowl precisely how many would expect.
This organization gave marner essentially everything he could ever ask for and he found a way to feel disrespected at every turn.

As a life long Leafs fan ( since the sixties) these’re interviews have really bothered me. How Marner and Ferris are trying to rationalize their leaving Toronto and blaming the fans. I have so much anger at these two two-faced individuals that has been pent up so thank you Steve Adam and Jesse for voicing how I and probably the majority of Leafs fans feel. We are the ones paying his salary and making him matter and there is absolute betrayal and they throw it back at us. It’s our fault he failed here. Just pathetic!
The security guy's threat to cut of Dangle's access is interesting and alarming. It indicates a fundamental problem in the "Marner camp", when it comes to relations with fans and media. The "Marner camp" seems to believe they can control what is being said about this particular player, and that is probably the root of the problem.

Eddie Olcyk found out he was traded while his wife was giving birth. Marner had multiple opportunities to opt out of Toronto but chose to stay. Ferris kept him there to the end to ramp up as much drama as possible aimed at maximizing the return……..

I'm sure we will see willy and other leafs walking or taking the ttc to games next year again. Marners team using this as an excuse to jump ship. But I'm glad he's gone. He will light it up in the regular season and early in the playoffs but will disappear when the games matter most
