#HABS #MONTREALCANADIENS #GOHABSGO
Carey Price will never even visit San Jose , the only body affected is Gannon. Things were getting light on the right side in the ahl and echl , good pickup but to save so little in term of cap space , I wish the habs Wouk have traded gallagher instead.
San jose are over the cap floor, Montreal only saved or free up around 2 millions plus they have signing bonuses to pay , you’re not getting a decent 2nd line center for that type of money . This doesn’t affect SanJose at all , they don’t pay a cent and if they need to Price could be used to go over the cap by 10.5 if they end up being in the playoffs spot
The shark probably asked for a 6 or 7th rounder for Gannon and the habs offered a 5th and that Sam Jose took Prices contract with zero cost , good trade for both team
Loved the start of the episode! The contract is gone but Price will always be a Hab! This is a business move orly and it helps us going forward! I saw him play in the game where the Hamilton Bulldogs won the Calder Cup and he won the MVP. Then he went on to have a stellar career with our beloved Habs!
That stupid pseudo French Canadian insider Reneau Lavoie started that second round draft pick bs. The guy is and has been literally clueless for years now. He was also comparing Lane Hutson father to Galchenyuk's father this morning because he says that his sons were also Canadians. Just a pure idiot.
End of an era! Truly a bittersweet but expected transaction. Carey Price, if it were not for that infamous Kreider net crash…what could have been. He's almost done and won it all…WHL, CHL goalie of the year, Silver and Gold Medals as a Team Canada Junior, Calder Cup winner w/AHL Hamilton Bulldogs, Gold Medal at the Olympics, and reaching the Stanley Cup Finals just missing out on a Stanley Cup. As a Hab, he would be the first to admit living and enduring a rollercoaster journey as a Montreal Canadien, but he's persevered and he will go down as one of the best goalies in our history along with Plante, Dryden, Roy. I wish Carey and his family the very best and thank him for so many great Hab memories! As for the trade…as I said, very expected but unsure where and what pieces would have to be moved…but San Jose was a good partnership bc San Jose altho already at the cap minimum ceiling, they had 49 of 50 pro contracts signed, they needed to shed some contracts…plus as a rebuilding team, they can now consider moving more of their older pricier contracts without fear of going under the cap minimum…so a good hockey deal. Not sure of Defenceman Gannon's injury update but for a guy who did not play at all last season, he may be just a player as a Hab on paper only and he may never play a game…however, he is still young, and as a righty, NHL sized D-man, and past 4th rnd pick…giving up a 5th in the deal seems like yet another smart value move by Hughes. Now, where does Mtl go from here??? Soooo many options! I think unless Hughes has targeted a player he really wants…Hughes and the Habs will start the season as is, to see how things pan out with players like Dach, how does Laine do, does Demidov have a great rookie start, what about underdog Veleno, and let's see how Beck, Kapanen, F Xhekaj do at camp. Plus, never rule out the unexpected injuries (knock on wood!). It also allows the other teams to see how their season is going to go…teams who are on the cusp who have a horrid start may quickly decide to make some changes (the McKenna factor!) so better deals or players that might not have been available before, might suddenly be available during the season. There is no real rush to make any rash moves BUT, the Habs cannot have a bad start to the season…that would definitely complicate plans and we know Hab fans have higher expectations this season. Would our 2C be a veteran or a young established player? Hard to say…many projecting Hage to be that 2C guy but he's still a minimum 2 years away plus he needs 3-4yrs time to gain pro experience and grow physically. Also don't rule out A Koivu and the previously mentioned Beck, Kapanen and F Xhekaj. Also, let us not forget Hage, Koivu and Beck are all righty…we already have Suzuki, Dach, Evans who are all righty at Center. Plenty of player names out there at a variety of stages in their career being floated around…young: McTavish, Byfield, Lundel, Beniers….mid: Zacha, McCann…veteran: O'Reilly, Kadri, Malkin, Crosby. Who will it be??? I say be patient and trust Hughes! PS. I would like to see Hughes get a couple PTOs for training camp as insurance and for defensive reasons but we shall see.
This is great. Contract lets the Habs improve even faster Cary looks happy and he’s not going to be exiting the team. I think he’ll be with us for a long time
A few players were traded at the end of their careers like Ray Bourque. It's not the end of the world. His last game was still in a Habs jersey. I am happy with the trade. I was expecting something more than a 5th round pick. I expected at minimum a 3rd round pick. Great job Kent!
Very high probably Sharks might tank again this year and trade a bunch of players for picks. This would warrant them needing Price's cap hit to keep them well above the cap floor.
Carey Price is and all ways will be my all time favorite player on the Montreal Canadiens. Will be doing an article on Carey Price in honor of him when I do a franchise mode in NHL 26

It’s perfect

Gannon is an often-injured nobody. Not a good pickup, adds San Jose with contracts.
McTavish??
If they are in a playoff spot at trade deadline could actually do a rental
Why would any team trade for Carrey? Am I incorrect thinking he's not supposed to ever play again?

Great deal

It's perfect for the Habs.
He will sign a one day contract and retire as a Hab
HuGo rock. The Habs are in good hands.

Making room for McDavid 😮
I can only say, as far as Price is concerned, good riddance!
Another great move by HuGo. Not only that, he will be back and will retire as a hab

Also RIP #29
The goat will be missed …..07😭🔵⚪️🔴

Hey Habs fan, patience. Anything worth having is worth waiting for. On Hutson 7 or 8 doesn't make a difference to me, one way or the other.
