Probably end up 5th-7th. 5th could net them a playoff spot. If we're going to end up 6th or 7th, I'd rather just tank and get 8th.
The Wings need further moves before the regular season to make the playoffs. A top four D and a top 6 forward.
Top 6 LW, top 4 D. Get rid of Holl. They will be golden
Common have some fkn balls. You don't want to offend anyone! Fk that. We are gonna finish 2cnd in the division with 106 pts. Gonna sweep Ottawa in the 1st rd then beat Toronto in 6 int the 2cnd rd and lose to Florida in 6 in the conference finals. Nobody scares me in this division. Seider and Edvinnson will shut them all down and Gibson will have a great year! You heard it here 1st. Bookmark this and play it back in March.
Montembeault was very good for Montreal. Was 3th in goals saved about expected in the entire league. Had a few bad games but mostly due to being overplayed. At the start of the season Primeau was awful as a backup so Monty had to play like 14 games in a row before Dobes become the backup. With Montreal the most likely reason for regression apart from the big question mark at 2C, is how the PK is going to be. Dvorak and Armia were one of the best PK duos in the league last year and especially Dvorak was the best face off guy for the team and the only left shot ( not counting Newhook). So center depth and PK are worrisome. Goaltending should be fine
I don’t see them getting better they might run into injury problems also, they have been healthy for a few years and something is bound to happen to a top player. I don’t know or want it to happen but I think they miss the playoffs instead of seeing what they have in prospects that why try to make the playoffs and have to play the prospects the following season and have to wait a couple years to get back. Makes no sense.
I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit is better than Ottawa and Montreal. We have a bunch of players who are still growing and improving, a few hungry rookies about to crack the roster, a better goalie tandem than last year, a few bounce back candidates and a real NHL head coach for the first time in a decade
Goaltending and depth were improved. In spite of lacking that top 4 LD, Detroit will contend for that wildcard spot. If they can find that LD, they're in.
Fifth place at best but I doubt that will even be enough to sneak in, as for Boston all it will take is Jeremy Swayman playing well and they're probably looking up at the Bruins in the standings too.
Wings will be over Habs
The good thing for the Wings future is that given the prospect pools for every other team in our division, the only one ranked higher is Montreal. Buffalo is probably a little behind us, but the rest are all in the bottom 10 prospect pools in the league. Ottawa is as good as they are going to get unless they make some really big moves, they will be a perennial wild card. Boston has fallen off. Tampa is the equivalent of the 2015 Red Wings, just about ready for total collapse. Toronto has reached their peak and will start to fall off within the next 3 years. Florida will be solid for the next 5 years or so, but maybe not as dominant as they are now. I think 3 years from now you will see Detroit, Montreal, and Florida fighting for the top three spots in the Atlantic.
