1. Any guesses, at how many bottom six players we see in action this season? We could see a revolving door. Hope not. Lets look forward to consistency.

  2. The Sharks have enough bottom-6 appropriate guys that someone like Giles or Afasaneyev need to step up and grab jobs and produce. If we’re talking a revolving door of sub-replacement level players like Grundstrom and Dellandrea anymore, the Sharks might as well dress Reavo twice a week. The Sharks are going to start the season with an 18 year old, two 19 year olds, and a 20 year old as their most important players. No one wants to look back and say they needed protecting after something happens. Reavo is an option and affects the tone of a game with 6 minutes of ice time more than a basket of sub-replacement bozos in their second season here.

  3. Misa – Wennberg – Kurashev as your third line with Graf in the middle 6 feels way more solid than last year with some real scoring touch.

  4. If Dellandrea can cut down on all his penalties and score more than 1 goal I might be able to forgive Warsofsky for playing him so much

  5. Gotta learn from bords and Gushkin handling of prospect give up on Dellandrea he had plenty to show and didn’t. Now he’s just taking a spot from a young prospect that needs to grow and prove themselves like a Lund or a Bysted.

    1. EKLUND – CELEBRINI – TOFFOLI
    2. KURASHEV – SMITH – SKINNER
    3. CHERNYSHOV – MISA – WENNBURG
    4. GAUDETTE -BYSTED – GRAF

    1. FERRARO – LILJGREN
    2. ORLOV – MUKHAMADULIN
    3. DICKINSON – KLINGBERG

  6. Hey man,
I am most hopeful for those bottom 6 roster spots because they were so bad last season and because we have so many young guys now who could push one or two of those guys out of a roster spot and I hope they do.

Giles was an interesting pick up last season. I agree with you that this guy looks like he could be a legitimate bottom 6 guy who really gives other teams fits. I am also a big Cardwell fan. I love his hustle and I think he would have been much better last season than any of the guys we featured on the bottom 6 with the exception of Graf and Wenberg.

I would say that this is my biggest hope for this season that at least 2 of our young guys force their way onto the roster and earn a regular spot much like Graf did last season. Of Goodrow, Grundstrum and Delandria I am more impressed with Grundstrum because he hustles, is fast, has decent size and works hard. I love Barkley's career path and really liked him when he came up with the Sharks but, honestly at this point he has very little value that we can't find elsewhere on the ice. Barkley's value off the ice is probably what keeps him on the roster but, he is just not effective anymore at the NHL level.

Delandria I had high hopes for but, honestly he provided almost no value last season that we couldn't have exceeded with someone like Cardwell. I don't wish any of those guys ill but, way too much dead weight on the bottom 6 last season so I hope at least a few of those young guys can force their way onto the roster. It shouldn't be too hard I would think?

Thanks JD for this fun video. I kind of feel like going forward the bottom 6 and the bottom pairing are where a lot of the action is going to be for us as we have so many young guys surging up now and for the foreseeable future. Fun times to be a Sharks fan. It's like being a car collector and having to pick which car you want to drive today (not that I know what that is like since I don't drive and don't own a car anymore! hahaha)

    Have a good day JD,

  7. Now I know why you didn’t mention Cardwell. My bad. I hope they are planning to move what would amount to the entire fourth line (Dellandrea, Goody, and Grundstrom).

Alas, most likely that will not happen (sigh). Goody has too big an AAV and I think you are correct about their view on his intangibles.

But all three managed less than ten goals combined last season, pathetic. Ugh!

    Dellandrea scored a whopping one!

Grunsdstrom to me was the best of the three but I would be good if they moved him.

For me, I want to see Afanaysev, Giles, Ostapchuk and Cardwell get a spot.

Not all four could make it of course but a fourth line of Ostapchuk Giles Cardwell.

Youth, size, grit, hustle, physicality and a bit of scoring. I bet more than ten goals!

However, if Misa is on line 3 then move Gaudette down and have a fourth line of Gaudette Ostapchuk and Afanaysev?

There’s so many possibilities! GMMG wanted competition and that’s exactly what he has.

    Let the games begin!
