SY said that it was going to be a long rebuild but they were going to stay the course. While drafting youth they also gave 2 inexperienced coaches a chance, that didn't pan out but it didn't matter because the youth needed some time to develop.
Bringing in McLellan in mid-2024 turned the team upwards considerably and even without his systems engrained or a training camp, this team last year were pacing a playoff spot, but the hole was too big. I believe the same group with another year under McLellan would be a playoff team.
I also believe that they are better than last year. Another year of maturity for Seider, Raymond, Kasper, Edvinsson, Solderblom, and Johansson. Adding Gibson, JVR, and Appleton along with a couple of depth Dmen were good moves.
They need one more top 4 D this year (possibly Karlsson?) and bump Edvinsson to the first line with Seider, dropping Chiarot to the 3rd line (where he would be successful) and they will be positioned very well. No more Petry, Mrazk. JBD, Gustafsson, and Holl will be battling for the last spot paired with Chiarot and let the hottest one win!
AND, nipping at the heals and in the bank and pushing for spots is Mazur and Danielson. I think that Berggren needs to watch his back.
Depth players and ready for the call IMO (michael-brandsegg-nygard, amadeus-lombardi, william-wallinder, shai-buium, and super excited to see how axel-sandin-pellikka performs). Also looking forward to Cossa having a solid season in GR.
I think that SY might have waited too long to bring in an NHL caliber coach, TBD this year.
So when is the Locked On Network going to start to add AHL teams like the Griffins. I would watch and Andrew gets my vote.
