As an everyday listener to Locked On Canucks and someone who DETESTS DEI with every fiber of my being, I can tell you first thing that Kyle Bhawan is ABSOLUTELY NOT a DEI hire. He literally bleeds blue and green as he is ALWAYS talking about and analyzing the Canucks in a very satirical yet nuanced manner WHILE being funny (most of the time). He also does a real good job running the show especially when Beggsy is not present which makes him truly dedicated to work let alone the Canucks. Who’s the one that immediately boots up the stream when the Canucks finish a game….IT’S KYLE BHAWAN!
This show is so uniquely ran as it blends talking sports with the perfect amount of visual and audio banter and nonsense. With it being in a stream format gives the community input to the podcast as well as shown through segments like Kanucks Kwestions. All other Locked On NHL podcasts roughly follow the same cookie cutter format but this one PURPOSELY goes against it to give it its own unique spin and in my opinion, works ABSOLUTELY flawless.
All of these things are the combination of both Beggsy and Kyle Bhawan doing their part to make Locked On Canucks what it is but at the end of the day, Kyle goes above and beyond to make this show what it is because he loves the Canucks that much. He is the heart and soul of this podcast and his work showcases it.
Also, what was that guy talking about. I LOVE YOUR VOICE KYLE! I get tired of the stereotypical Indian voice you hear most of the time where ever you go yet Kyle’s squeaky voice distinguishes himself, showcases how fun and charismatic he is, and it sounds more pleasant on the ears. Don’t you dare get surgery to “fix” your voice because it is perfect the way it is.
Well, there is only one thing I can say to end this off…..All the love to you and you and you, and as always, I’m happy listening/watching Locked! On! Canucks!
Is Elias Pettersson 2.0 our best prospect?
I do think EP is the best prospect, that has more to do with I'm not very high on the other prospects. I don't see any first line forward or top pairing D.
I think EP can develope into Erik Cernak, number 3 shutdown D that is excellent defensively, physical but a better skater and might put up a few more points. I don't see EP reaching Ohlund, Kronwall or Edler's level. I don't think EP has that level of offence.
Wallinder: he's not very dynamic with the puck, I don't think he has that big of an offensive upside. I think he can become a second pairing D like Bret Hedican. Using his elite speed more for defence and exiting the dzone with the puck.
Lekkerimaki: I've never been that high on him. Most elite points producers are not small and have above average speed, he doesn't have both. I think his upside is a second line winger like Bjorkstrand. I won't be surprised if he become a bust.
Cootes: Brandon Sutter or Jarret Stoll/Yanni Gourde. A third line center to a second line center upside.
Cernak is better than all the nhl players comparison, that is why I have EP as the best prospect.
A small chance that EP is playing in the top 4 this year if there are no injuries.
One thing we have to keep in mind is playing on the third D pairing is completely different animal than playing in the top 4. It is a lot harder playing against Mcdavid/Draisaitl vs playing against Henrique/Janmark. All EP has proven so far he's a good third pairing D. I think EP one day will get there but I think this season is too early for him to be on the top 4. Look at Mancini last season, played well on the third pairing but completely struggled in the top 4 playing with Hughes when Myers was out.
I don't think it's realistic to expect any of Wallinder, EP and Mancini to replace Myers in the top 4 to start the year. If any of those 3 play Myers' tough mins in the top 4 for long stretches. I think all of them would get destroy defensively.
