  1. Asking Kempe to represent the KIngs sounds like the organization is planning on him being the next Captain or right after a short stint of Doughty being the Captain before he retires. But that also seems to hint that the KIngs already know that Kope is going to retire after this year. Of course that will be kept quiet for as long as possible and then come out late like with Dustin Brown. This may sound crazy but its not outrageous that Doughty retires with Kopitar after this year. Im sure health has a lot to do with it and if Drew doesn't like where his leg is at after the full recovery (as far as how it feels in the 2nd half of this season), he could easily decide hes done after this year. He will be 36 in December, and hes a proud guy. So to me, I don't see him doing that "stay too long thing" and fall behind the speed and youth of the game and humiliate himself. I don't see him being that kind of guy or doing that to himself, especially if his leg never gets back to normal or where he wants it to be. And thats not even talking about any injuries that could happen this year. Obviously I hope that doesn't happen. Doughty has always been my favourte defensman and if he played his career in the eastern time zone, he would have won much more than 1 Norris trophy. I am sure of it. He got robbed more than once back in his prime. But playing on the west coast has always been that way. You don't get as many votes because eastern writers dont stay up past midnight to watch all the west coast teams home games. Wayne Gretzky is the only one who wasn't hurt by that but thats for obvious reasons. Other than him, almost all the other top players in the west had a hard time getting enough votes to actually win whichever trophy. So you have to be completely dominant like a Makar to get the votes. Kopitar was also hurt by this multiple times over the years for the Lady Byng and especially the Selke. At least a couple of those that got defaulted to Bergeron in the east should have went to Kopitar. On the other hand, that shows how good Kopitar really was winning a couple top honors even being in the west. But he should have had a couple more.

  2. Schaffer deserves a shot with the TV broadcast. I really enjoyed the handful of games he did last season.

  3. That was Carter George’s first regular season pro game. He was in net for the Kings in their preseason opener in Utah last year.

  4. Oh NO WAY!! John Kelly!! Outside of the Kings announcers he has been my favorite NHL announcers! He has a unique style and cadence. Thank you St Louis!

  5. Sam Rosen was a legend and his replacement Kenny Albert is solid. I like kings hire in Kelly, but Kings' tv broadcast has way too many folks. Three individuals should be more than enough. Too many so-called experts for my taste.

  6. Yea id rather have you announce Eddie than Alex Faust he sounds like an announcer thats trying to sound like an announcer I hate when guys do that it all sounds forced and unnatural glad he got his opportunity somewhere else
