If the wild are out of a playoff spot, they will retain 50% salary and expect to receive Lafreniere in return. So it's aboslutely possible to pull this off.
Let's hope the Rangers focus up n, play as a team… Not play for a paycheck…..😮😮😮
Breadman should take a discount. Why more players song I just don’t understand. Money 💰 I know. But imagine the possibilities
In contrast, the Canes could trade for Kaprizov without mortgaging their future. One thing Tulsky has been adamant about is that maximizing your chances of winning a Cup means sustainable improvement, not selling the farm for a Cup window.
One trade proposal I’ve seen is Kaprizov in exchange for Svechnikov (a valuable contract since he’s at $7.75M AAV until 2029), prospect Bradly Nadeau, a 2026 1st, and a 2027 2nd. Kaprizov would fill the same top-six winger role as Svech and the Canes would still have draft picks (we got a 2026 1st, 2028 1st, two 3rds, and Logan Stankoven for Rantanen), so the future would still be bright. And since the Canes have $10.65
M in cap space, combined with Svechnikov’s $7.75M cap hit, they could sign Kaprizov for up to $18.4M and still be cap compliant.
The Rangers would have to mortgage a lot more, and currently have only $0.78M in cap space. I just don’t see how they’d be able to do it. And Kaprizov likely wants to be on a winning team which the Rangers are decidedly NOT right now.
I don’t think it’s very likely that the Rangers are “one of the best teams in the NHL” come trade deadline of this season. They haven’t really fixed any of the issues that caused their losing season last year.
If he wants more than $10 million per…NO WAY.
Why would you trade assets at deadline for kaprizov especially if rangers are one of best teams in the league when you can just sign him in offseason that seems like a very bad decision unless they traded panarin in the move
