  1. Yzerplan has failed. You can`t shortcut a rebuild.

He did never really tank. Premature signed expensive vets like Copp and Compher, who harmed the rebuild. Kane was nice, but wrong timing.
Walman trade was horrrible, the only D that had the right age he gifted away with a 2nd making it the best deal ever for SJS. They got a 1st a 2nd and a year of Walman.
Holl, Chiarot, Petry, Gustafsson, Harmonic and whoever Yzerman got – aint a D.
He totally failed to build a structure for the young players coming up.

Prospect development is also rather so so. Seider and Raymond made it, but Edvinsson, Johansson, Kasper, Wallinder, Cossa are all under expectations. Why?
Coach decisions were also all but great. Blashill, Lalonde, now McLellan, all but great.

Timing didn`t fit, you can`t retool if you have almost no pieces in place. They missed to do a full sellout in 16-17, they didn`t do it due to the new stadium in 17-18 and Yzerman never fully committed to a rebuild since he took over in 2019.
DET won`t make the playoffs again, they are on 5 – 8 in the Atlantic, behind FLA, TBL, Leafs, Sens and probably Habs. If it runs bad, they might even end behind BOS and BUF.
    Yzermans job is in jeopardy.

  2. “I’d appreciate a like on this video.”How about a: UNSUB?” to this uneducated filthy #yzerbot casual take. All made to RAGEBAIT.

Bro just quoted THW who are notoriously dog 💩 at writing, supporting their opinions with facts or logic while additionally not supporting his argument with any basic facts. Further cementing his takes as just that: the dumpster fires he mentions and wildly hyperbolic claims such as: “Ken Holland left the dumpster fire of a team with no high draft picks, and only Dylan to Larkin and Hronek to show for it”, “can’t judge a team in the first second or third or even fifth year of the rebuild.” Where do you think you got all those extra first round and 2nd picks?

If your answer was Kenny H drafted players, you’d be correct. 🤪 such a tiresome FALSE argument, as if there was nobody on their roster when he took over.

Additionally, you can’t cry about not having a high top three draft pick when you’re consistently adding mid and “short term” veteran talent (that’s not really short term) that takes the place of young kids, cutting their teeth in the NHL, and simultaneously keeping your team in directionless in to mushy draft purgatory middle. Never “bad enough” to get an elite franchise cornerstone talent at the top of the draft, and never good enough to make the playoffs.

The only thing he’s done is draft well. Period. And even then his “elite” players that are talked of are: checks notes not even a top 20 nhl defenseman that plays like a Walmart brand Devin-Towes with size and less on puck mobility lmao, a good sometimes great scoring winger that can’t drive play by himself and is directly reliant on a player Steve didn’t even draft (Dylan Larkin) as indicated by Raymond’s x5on5 xGF, Corsi, and xCh for via timeshare on ice and a 2nd pairing defensive defenseman.

Ultimately, his good players aren’t great or elite. He’s failed to answer immediate depth issues (see missing top 6 center depth for 9 years), while continually signing and overpaying players that data science contradicted in signing, or let the pro scouting choose the incorrect player; Copp over Trocheck? Compher over Kadri or Lindholm? Gustafsson over Pesce, Husso for picks etc . . . Walman trade, the missing out on HERTL, and missing out on SERGACHEV.

He has no excuse. And defenders simply have no foundation to stand on other than his statistically outlier run for 4 years at aTB when it came to drafting and developing.

@robtalks hockey lay off the hot takes. Florida, Carolina, New York, Minnesota, St. Louis, Washington, Montreal and New Jersey all stand in opposition of your hypocritical hyperbole.

Signed a guy that played, coaches and scouts hockey.

  3. It's easy to be an optimist and believe that your team has about as good as any other team to win the Cup…until the games are played.

  4. They're in a tough division. SY might not make it to the playoffs before his time is finished.

  5. Yzerman's secret weapon in Tampa was JBB… That's what he's been missing in Detroit.

  6. Every year it is right there. Just needs one or two pieces to be something really special.

  7. Ottawa traded the 7th overall pick for debrincat. And then Detroit traded for debrincat for a 25th overall pick, 4th round pick, kubalik and sebrango

  8. david perron and jake walman are the only two guys in your list that shouldnt have been let go.

  9. basically SY can draft no doubt about it, especially when we dont get any help with the lottery. think people are hyper focused on the trades, the contracts for dumpy players and some great players he let get away. im hopeful.

  10. Dawg you not talking on the potential steals on Elmer soderblom or Amadeus Lombardi or Jesse Kiiskinen or Dmitri Buchelnikov is a crime so many of my wing’s prospects are from 2nd to 4th rounder or higher that. Have legit potential to be top 6 players.

  11. for some reason his amatuer scouts are great and pro scouts are horrible. He came in 6 years ago and only 4 of his draft picks have really played. I think you can only judge when we see a lineup with asp, buchelnikov, danielson, augustine, kasper, edvinsson in their prime, but that might be another 5 years…. he needs to make better signings in the meantime. (buchelnikov has a chance to be his 2nd round star)

  12. Expiring veteran contracts after this year along with rising salary cap will give the Red Wings 45 million to play with after this season. 45 million with the young guys already under contract = the Yzerplan….

  13. The path is with the various contract expiring in 2026 and the increase in salary cap Detroit could have 44million in available CAP space. And while player #00 CAP space has never won a cup 44million can still buy a shit ton of talent to get your developing players development accelerated and make the playoffs. After all, one thing is absolutely certain: if you're not playing at the end of April and beginning of May you got no chance to still be playing in June.

  14. There will never be a single bigger trade deadline acquisition than the one last season that brought Petr Mrazek back into the fold!
