I agree, I'd like to see Eakin go too. Maybe I'm ignorant, but he never seems to show up on the stats sheet and he's always being paired with top players like Benn. I truly don't understand why he is on the team.
The Stars have some good prospects who could be on the roster next year.
Kinda nervous about this season. Hopeful for playoffs at minimum. But I think the year after will be a good year. Only time will tell though. Go Stars!
I still think they will trade their pick and one of their spare goalies to somebody desperate enough.
whats the difference between this team and the team in 2015? i think with a couple signings they could definitely make the playoffs
We should go after a guy like justin shultz in free agency if he dosn't ask for to much, which is not that likely but who knows, we also need some depth forwards kinda like juri hudler but can actually produce for us
Roope Hinz was amazing in the Liiga playoffs. He is going to be great for Dallas

How are you even a Stars fan? Have you ever been to Texas? I guessed you liked this team when they were in Minnesota in the 80s and early 90s. But seriously you liked that team even if it's located in the south? I'm pretty sure you have visited Texas or not and actually gain success in their history. Dallas is one of the best cities in the US even as a non-hockey market to say the least.
Lehtonen in my personal opinion is far superior to Niemi, yeah he play like crap most of the time but compared to Niemi he had a lot more shut down games. If Lehtonen is the buyout I believe we get only 400k in savings compared to buying out Niemi, that alone doesn't sell on it for me. And for as long as Lehtonen has been with this team for about 8 years, and the locker room chemistry and connection to most of the guys we have now is better than Niemi's. In the end I just don't see how buying out Lehtonen will help us other than saving 400k which isn't a lot of money.

The biggest issue imo is that the dcore is to skill based with klingberg, Lindell, and honka realistically making up 3 of the top 4 as it sits. Hopefully Hitchcock can rejuvenate oleksiak like he did with parayko in St. Louis and I think Johns will thrive under hitch's more defensive system. I'm also a bit worried that bishops best years are behind him and don't like the term on his contract at all even though it is front loaded and a relatively small cap hit.
