The point you brought up on defence make sense it's just been same way for years.
The reason I'm more comfortable than years past is it is what it is guys are signed used to each other want to be here.
On bottom end Schenn,Fluery,Miller tbh I like Salmonsson over Heinola/Stanley. In past jets would use excuse Stanley can develop into a Oleksiak type/he's still a prospect. Now he's 27yrs old we are losing him or Heinola to Waivers. I think both would be claimed some teams have bad depth.
I mean there's always room to upgrade but I'd give Salmonsson/Clague a shot before making trades. Jets like being a family I think they prefer Stanley and waive Heinola.
Pearson same boat he's on the team from relationship with Scheifele/Hawerchuk. They would waive Koepke if had to a forward. Since can't get big names pleasing locker room/top guys anyway they can by adding a friend makes them feel better.
Clague I'm fine with he's similar to Coughlan both played WHL Clague was 2nd round pick played WheatKings and team Canada. Serviceable 9th dman.
I remember wanting Capobianco/Coughlan get time over Stanley. Capobianco won AHL dman of the year then signed Dallas.
I can't really blame Coughlan/Capo leaving Texas and Nevada have 0% tax it matters to top NHL FA as well as players making 2way deals.
