  1. Things do look pretty promising right now. Tired of impatient people and trash talkers dragging Mr. Y's name through the mud, even when he tells you directly what his plan is for the team. I'm sure the criticism won't settle down until they make the playoffs, so hopefully that comes this year.

  2. As a wings fan I find myself with this new found excitement. We have been set up great financially. The fact our two top forwards are making around the same money as kaprizov combined is a great sign that this team is going to be extremely deep compared to other teams in these next few years. I’m still nervous for Montreal and New Jersey though. They have also been cooking with their contracts

  3. Imho the plan has always been about the summer of 2026 with the wings.

Imagine all of these kids coming into their own and joining the team in the same summer that the wings have an estimated $44 mil of available cap space and only $50 mil of used space.

They can easily afford to sign all of their young players and any free agent that may come available, even a McDavid (not that i expect that. I dont see edmonton letting him go.)

  4. Wait, you mean to tell me people are impatient and refuse to see the forest through the trees? I’m stunned…

  5. I hate to be that guy, but well, here we go. Please get MBN’a name right. It’s pronounced “KNEE-guard” not “NEW-guard”

  6. Don’t sleep on Lombardi. He had some brilliant moments in the preseason. A little more development and he could surprise people

  7. I've seen this from plenty of young talent that was the so called fix here in detroit. It takes a whole group of good talent to turn around a franchise. We still got a few years to wait I think but that just me. If we trade some assets for assets maybe we get there sooner. I think the tigers and wings are in the same mold. Good young talent and lots of it eventually coming up.

  8. The Yzerplan HAS been working. He was saddled with the worst roster in the league AND one of the bottom 3 farm systems. He has rebuilt the farm system without having to trade future picks or assets. While we dropped a couple of points last year, he also has the BEST Cap space starting next season ($44m) when all the best FAs will be available.
Be patient, folks. This is gonna pop soon.

  9. The problem with The Yzerplan is people demanded the team make the playoffs ASAP, rather than actually wait to see the plants bear fruit. We're starting to see some of that fruit now. The real question is, will they manage to surprise everyone and make it? Will they live in a playoff spot until March Sadness rolls around again? Or will they persevere, break the curse, and make it? Time will tell.
