    I felt the same way about watching the game Tuesday night! I believe that opening night team beats up last year's opening night team easily lol
    Like Byslma, they got burned out with Sully. History does show success after a big coaching change. They've been counted down and out before. I see a hungry core, hungry kids. Its all hypothetical 😂

    Thank you for mentioning the deficiencies of Novak. There was a gentleman who I chatted with here who was advocating for Novak. But I found last night was an example of how he plays top 6 mins. Poor decisions with the puck. There were a few good scoring chances missed because of his lack of awareness around him and making the play instead of trying to do something on his own. I thought watching the game this is why he was let go by Nashville. This is why other teams didn’t take a flyer on him. I think he’s fine bottom 6. The problem is there are other guys who can play ahead of him bottom 6.
    Also I’m not sure about ville and Sid. They were off beat most of the game. It could have been just one game but I don’t see ville as a top line winger. And I had worries about him being able to play top line well. Time will tell.
    Also malkin was great. I didn’t think Brazeau was that great even though he scored two goals. In fact both him and mantha. I can see that line becoming a problem because of mantha and Brazeau just not being that good. I’m more interested to see ville with malkin over time

    Hoping we get off to a good start at home! You're right about the confidence near the end of the 3rd period. It was palpable, unlike last year when you'd expect them to find a way to lose. 🏒🐧🏒

    Every other video I’ve watched so far just keeps focusing on “How could the rangers lose to one of the worst teams in hockey.” It was one game… The season just started sure our line up is weird, but all I’ve gathered from the first game is it looked like a team that wanted to be there and wanted to play rather than just go through the motions.

    My favorite quote after the game was from Sid. “It can get better.” That’s a captain who is in line with the team mission and he’s going to pull the team with him. If the Pens keep playing a tight relentless game like this, losses will sting but I don’t think they’ll derail the team like they did in the past.

    I missed something this off-season. I just noticed Mike Stothers in the background of this photo. I remember him when he coached in Owen Sound in the OHL. He's a great guy and coach. I worked with his family when they lived there. I hope he sticks around Pittsbrugh for many years. Quirky note. He coached Bizz in Owen Sound, for those who remember his short stint in Pittsburgh.

    Skeptical of this team's potential. Not going to be fooled by one good defensive effort. And need to score more goals. I just don't see it. I see a bottom five team still.

    The opportunity, and the present frustration, is that this D is one player away from being competent. If you could find a legitimate top pair LD, which wouldn't be easy, then your left side could align as 1LD, Wotherspoon and Pickering, which I can live with. I'm hoping there's a hockey trade to be made with one of the three veterans we always talk about to get a LD.
