You can talk about these players but they aren’t going to move the needle. The elephant in the room is Marner and the fact you traded him and didn’t replace him with another 100pt player. It’s not that hard to understand

The team is ten years older. The core 4 players were paid far too much and looked in without any post-season success!
They traded away prospects for rentals that couldn't be resigned because of salary restrictions!!!
They made temporary moves that became permanent solutions!!!
The 10 year wasted area of Shannahan is the main reason why the Leafs haven't been able to improve the key positions ! In the last 10 years and more so in the last 5, As those core players have all gotten older ! While those teams who were retooling are starting to see their efforts being rewarded!
It wasn't long ago when they were looking for a left winger to play on one of the top two lines, now they still need a left winger that could play on one of the top two lines, but they now need a right winger that can play on one of the top two lines ! A possible 3rd line center! A defenseman???
And a reliable, dependable goaltender!! Doesn't have to be # 1 but a goaltender that can play 35 games !

Also, Boston structure was very much different than the leafs! So your disappointment needs to be tempered .

Well, the chemistry is changed. It should gel by Christmas and all will be well in leaf land again.
This team is rotten to the core. Even a Cup winning tough-as-nails army sargeant can't get them into the fight. What hope is there? Pull a Sharks/Chicago and start again from scratch.

You can’t play a significant number of games without your top defensemen.
The longer Reilly & Tanev can’t play the more they’re staring down the basement stairs.
There is definitely locker room drama going on. No clear leader. And when someone said something to that effect(stolarz), it got the tenured players panties in a bigger knot then usual. There lack of attention to details is so sad and hard to watch. 2nd line been okay but is going to be out for a little bit now with Willy injured.
Matthews needs to lose the C. He is emotionless, and seems to take the No Guts, No Grind, part a little to literally. But we do not have anyone to replace him really. So Tre is handcuffed by major pieces just like the last GMs and coaches.
