What did this team learn from the last game? That they can slack off because they can come back? Or that they actually need to learn to play defense. All the time. Not just a few periods. Here and there when they feel like it.
They'll find out who they are on this western road trip.
The Red Wings’ goalies have been shaky, especially lately. Talbot’s save percentage is .890 and Gibson .870
The Red Wings are giving the kids a chance to play this year, why not finally bring up Sebastian Cossa (3-0 at Grand Rapids , including a shutout a few days ago.)?
It was the cat's goal that energized them
Powerplay can't die just because Kane is out
Best game I’ve ever been to
Got finnie to win Calder at +6500 before season 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I just realized if keep your pointer in the beginning of the video progress bar you can block out Brian's face for the whole video. That way you don't have to see the weird faces he makes while Scotty is talking.
Rasmussen can use the rest after that cross-check.
Watching that game felt like having bipolar disorder
With all due respect, Scotty, gotta agree with Brian here. The difference maker wasn't the two goals. It was the impetus behind the goals. Without McLellan ripping the team during the timeout, we don't rally. We skate around with low energy and take another loss.
Oh no the West Coast road Trip is coming up? Here comes our annual loss to San Jose
Ffs can we not streak back into streak that are both positive. We hot hot then cold cold. Coach needs yap alot more
Can someone here explain to me whether I'm wrong or whether Seider is becoming increasingly boring to watch and comes across as cocky.. ? His gap control looks worse and his offense is absolutely terrible this year.
But at least we have Finnie! This boy is so much fun!
My difference maker is todd mcclellan's mouth during the time out in the second period. The team came out on fire after that tongue-lashing he gave them.
If the only way they're going to get up is to be yelled at then this is going to get uglier.
Watch the post practice video after this game, apparently mclellen was ripping veterans for being out of position, according to an article, and thats good because as bad as their goaltending has been at times, the lapses in defensive assignment they've had the last 2 and a half games isn't a goalie problem, which is why mclellen has been ripping these guys a new one.if they play the right way they can beat nearly anyone:Edmonton, Florida, Tampa, Toronto etc.. even with average goaltending.
I just loved that it was a lot of guys making the comeback happen that nobody expected. Berggren, Hamonic, Edvinsson. Berggren even had another self created shot at a second goal. When the team needs a team effort, it can happen.
So a thought… With MBN getting just 9 shifts this game, and you obviously want the young guys playing… This being his 9th NHL game in year two (from of draftclass) his possible ELC slide. Would it be better to assign him to GR (if he plays one more NHL game the ELC contract year starts ticking) and recall one of Danielson or Mazur (who both look NHL ready, i would include Wallinder on defenceman there from last game i watched looked real smooth and solid), or would we miss MBN physicallity to much? I can see both sides of it… It's not always a bad idea to let players burn a year early of ELC at 19yo, cause sometimes (like Raymond) you are able to resign them on a more cap friendly deal BEFORE they break out "for real" (in Raymond's case it was more about timing with cap raising, if he would have started his ELC at 20yo, his extension would have been when new cap was revealed and then likely could have demanded 10-12 mil per)
I can live with 20 year olds making mistakes postionallly, but guys who've been in the league 4 years or more can't do that, a guy 4 years or more in the league not back checking cant happen because you don't have a leash anymore when rookies play with more effort. I'll give bergren credit for stepping up his defensive effort, but eventually mbn will score and when he does it will come in bunches and the 2 game sample bergren has given better be every game, because the minute he goes cold and has a game like he did in new york, he's expendable.
After the call out Raymond crashed the net and caused that full team scuffle behind the net. I think that helped get guys engaged too.
I shut the game off on the 4th blues goal… I checked the later on and it was tied! I normally sit and watch all losses but it was a severe blowout and I didn’t need that kind of negativity in my life. Great finish Wings!!
