Idk about anyone else but I saw this coming from a mile away
I had them 7th in the metro
I for one fully predicted this
But the problem might be a poor relationship between the front office and the players. Drury has without a doubt been ruthless in forcibly trading guys like Trouba and Goodrow who were leaders in the locker room, and I've heard the theory that the players are playing poorly to get him fired.
As a capitals fan I absolutely predicted this. They haven't been able to develop a drafted prospect in 10 years. They relied heavily on the power play in that presidents trophy season, and outside of that have been pretty mid at 5v5 goal scoring depending heavily on a super star goaltender and reliable back up with quick up puck moving defensemen. It's pretty poetic going from the dumb chirps rangers fans had after that sweep to seeing them PLUMMET to the basement.
If New York Rangers are to keep going with their dismal home form as they have right now, they will finish the regular season with just 8,2 points (8 rounded down) in their home matches.
Away matches wise, they are projected to pick up 57,4 points (57 rounded down), which would be the second highest in the shootout era, only behind the 2014/15 season when they picked up 58 points.
Cellar dwelling teams, mediocre goalies, players in scoring droughts…
All hope and dream of playing the Rangers at MSG.
Up until the last 2 games, our D, the 4th line and the goalies were fantastic.
Suddenly all 4 wheels come off.
Will coaches just watch as they did last year, or will they dare make serious changes?
Sit nonperformers. Call ups and send downs. A Kids Line Berard-Laba-Othmann?
I’m here from the future
I can tell you that this is not rock bottom yet, it gets worse
I blame most of it on J.T. Miller and his captaincy and production. He was getting on Petey’s case for not producing as much as he normally does and that genuinely affected Petey’s mentality let alone play more than anything else. It’s a good thing that Miller is completely gone from Vancouver because now Petey is actively producing where he should be. Now look at Miller, he is in the exact same spot Petey was at in the sense where Miller isn’t producing whatsoever. All of this was brought upon Miller and he refuses to take any responsibility for the team let alone his production. What a terrible captain as well because given his past behavior and current leadership role, he is a disgrace.
Weekend power rankings?! 🙂
You love to see it
They brought in another hard ass coach and the wrong guy for captain, and the vets still there are done with it all, I think they need to see what they can get for Panarin and Zibenejad
Wanna hear something tragic? I started out as a ranger fan after 94' (97') I travelled from cph Dk to NY went to the garden watching the GOAT saw Hasek for Sabres I followed for 10 straight years on TV at night then I laued off for a while cause they kept loosing every night, then I started picking up supporting my beloved NYR, I came to realise they've been insanely good while I didn't watch, then I joined in after watching them tilt against the cats 1y+ ago and now I'm fully committed again back to loosing every night,, so is it me?? Do I JINX the Rangers? Kinda feels like it
What do you mean nobody thought this is how the Rangers were gonna start. They are a non-playoff team from last year. They’re bad they didn’t add anybody.
As a rangers fan i watched almost every game the 23/24 to watch maybe 1/5 of the games last season and now i doubt i will catch more than maybe 10
Just trade all draft picks for developed players in packages for the next couple years since we won’t fire everyone in development for whatever gay reason
Laf started his career having historically low PP time for a 1st overall – which makes sense, the Rangers charged into the Prez trophy on the backs of their 5 guys on the PP, there was no spot for Laf – hence the shortage of points.
The real issue with him on the defensive side of things he’s looked lost for 4 coaches and 4 systems. Always chasing the play. Never in the right position. Because of that the whole team suffers snd can’t break out. Nobody on the Rangers been on the ice for more 5v5 goals against over the last 3 years than Alexis Lafreniere.
Dude no-one wanna see ur face, just have hockey footage and ur golden, no hate 🙌
I just want to thank the Rangers for giving Carolina their best defenceman for nothing but a couple late round picks and a mid AHL player 😂😂
The New York fall off is crazy. From president trophy winner to not so good……it’s kind of sad and I’m not even a rangers fan.
great video, i was an OHL intern for the Plymouth Whalers back during the days of Tyler Seguin and JT Miller, those guys have obviously aged but back then you can tell they had a lot of pop and fire in their play. I think your assessment on the Rangers is fair. They are doing it to themselves. Bad front office + aging core group is not a good recipe in a game that is getting faster and more skill based.
What are you talking about? Have you seen their roster? This was 100% predicted. Learn hockey
Rangers needed better defense, didn’t need to destroy our offense to do it tho.
The truth is that if Drury was going to blow up the roster last year because he knew they missed their best shot at the cup in 2023-24 then he should’ve just committed to a full rebuild. Teams with old stars don’t win anymore and that hasn’t been the case for a while. Since 2010 every team that has won the cup has had a 1C younger than 30. I love Miller’s game but adding another 32 year old with a NMC and a long term deal to a core of Panarin, Zibanejad, and Trocheck was never going to work unless they were able to get a big free agent this offseason. Now that McDavid, Eichel, and Kaprizov all re-signed what’s the plan? They should’ve traded as many pieces as they could’ve and let the young guys play in more significant roles (not that I exactly trust the organization’s player development). Would rather sit through another rebuild than watch a team try to win the cup when everyone knows they’re going nowhere even if they made the playoffs.
Rangers fans have always been overconfident.
They rely on a goaltender to carry them – they'll never win until they stop spending so much money on Shitsterkin.
