I think the Rangers front office was solid with Gorton and J.D.. Not sure why they were run-off, but it has been a steady decline the last two years…coach's, draft pick's, free agent's.
Drury is terrible in so many ways, but Gorton and JD were responsible for all the terrible number 1 draft pick busts, and the list is quite long.
The day he dismantled the team that won the Presidents Trophy and the team that had the best record in franchise history he should have been on a hot seat since day one of when decided to do something very stupid

They need a complete overhaul. From the front office, to scouting, player development and everything else. Their inability to draft and develop has killed them. Look at the Devils drafts and look at the Rangers. It's over for this group.

Gorton had a huge blind spot for any kind of grit/toughness. Aside from Trouba, the roster was weak. He didn't deserve to lose his job though. Then we gave the keys to Pizza Boy Drury. For all the resources he has available there is not a worse GM in the business. The team should have been torn apart after losing to NJ in round 1. Anyone not nailed down should have been moved. Not even showing up for games 5 and 7 against your biggest rival was embarrassing. Imagine the 94 squad putting forth that kind of effort…
The problem with the Rangers, is the organization itself. Drury is a Gm, who looks like he has no clue how to be a GM at the NHL level. Yet, Dolan loves him so don't expect any changes on that end. Dolan disputing the whole MSG games vs Optimum a company is father owned at one point keep in mind. Dropped them an said, I want more money, or nobody gets to watch games at the Garden. #SelltheRangersDolan It's clear, Dolan only cares about owning the major two teams in the Garden and does not care if they win or lose, so much as he profits off of them. My conclusion, Rangers will go nowhere with Dolan owning the team and Drury making GM moves. If Dolan truly cared about winning. He'd fire Drury and hire Messier. End of story

Seems like there's a really negative attitude about this team. We need management that has a good attitude that rubs off on the players. I don't see any one giving two shits out there. It's pathetic. Someone needs to snap them out of it.
This team is slow and unphysical
You make some solid points about Drury. Yes, he has made some good decisions, but I would also follow it up that he was majorly responsible for Pavel Buchnevich being traded and since then we still have not found a consistent 1st line RW. My issues with Drury is that he will make 1 good move, but then immediately follow it up with 2 bad moves. For example, getting out of Trouba's contract was a great move and I applauded Drury for doing so, but the very next action he did was resign Igor to that crazy contract. Another example, he got Miko Mikaela from St.Louis at the deadline and he played very well for us. However, he followed it up by letting him walk were he has now been a big part of Florida winning 2 cups. The same could be said with Frank Vatrano. Now I know, that not all of this is on Drury, you have to account for Cap restraints, but he has had chance after chance after chance. The Rangers had some glaring holes going back to the ECF against Tampa, yet did nothing in the offseason to correct it, it was the same group. The writing has been on the wall for years, diehard Rangers fans were sounding the alarm, and it went to deaf ears. Personally, and I have been a big opponent to this, but they should NOT have resigned Igor. The team is not good in front of him, and to be honest why pay for a goalie when the team is not even remotely close to being a Stanley Cup Contender. I could understand the logic if this team was close, but the team is not. A rebuild should be happening. Instead, we are now stuck with long term NMC contracts for players in there 30s who are signed for another 5 years. This team is slow already, can you imagine this team in even 2 years from now. That' is why I think Drury needs to go.
