Who replaces Elias Lindholm?
They got outshot 40 to 22 ! That’s not a good game. This team is “ not hard to play against “ President Cam Neely.. a total rebuild Now ,don’t try to patch just to make the playoffs. Look at the Habs what they’ve done in the past few years. And they’re the youngest team in the league!
Good luck tonite with your Blue Jays hope they win
I think giving Khusnutdinov a shot is a great idea, look how well that worked for Geekie, he had to learn and adapt, but now he's WAY better. I think this year is a watch them grow in to a cohesive unit, then get rid of the ones that can't type of season.
If it’s tank time, why not trade Pasta? By the time these picks are ready, Pasta will be well into his 30s. Hate to see his prime wasted on a rebuild.
No lohrei, 2 and 0
16:59 Court, I really hope you’ll take this as constructive feedback.
Looking at the standings in October, and making any degree of conclusions about how each team will perform based on a small sample of wins and losses … that’s really superficial and not particularly informative or useful for your viewers.
Regarding the Atlantic Division: the Canadiens have an Even Strength xGF% of 47.8% right now. Montreal’s actual results are grossly outpacing their predicted results, which means they’re (probably) going to regress negatively, sooner rather than later. On the flipside, Tampa has the 2nd best Even Strength xGF% in the NHL (55.7%), which means they’re (probably) going to shoot up to the top of the Atlantic, sooner rather than later.
The bad, sobering news, though?
Boston has the 2nd worst Even Strength xGF% in the NHL right now, at (an abysmal) 43.0%. Unfortunately (for the Bruins and their fans), that means the Bruins’ results (currently 6–7–0) are due for negative regression. The Bruins are actually worse than their results, thus far.
Unless the Bruins improve significantly on defense at Even Strength, this is going to be a very, very long season. Hopefully Hampus can stay healthy and McAvoy can improve.
Yeah…quite frankly Beecher has had way too many shots already. Yes he can play on the PK but its time to make room for someone from Providence and give them a REAL shot.
Our goalies are horrible handling the puck. Swayman is a dumpster fire when he handles the puck. He habitually hands it to the other team or puts his defense in peril. As to who starts more, you reward the man who has earned to play. simple.
These are professional players. There is no excuse for not knowing how the defensive system works or for the amount of missed passes or the amount of times they can't receive a pass properly. It's plain sloppy BS and what the coach needs to do is bench ANYONE that continues this sloppy garbage. It's the NHL FFS !!!!
Sweeney and Neely are not responsible for the sloppy play, thats on the coaches and players…period.
Leafs, IDK if Mathews and Berube see eye to eye? IDK about their goaltending either. Time will tell.
I don't expect professional athletes will tank to get better picks but it's most of a season away to see how this goes. In the meantime I'm just hoping we start to look less and less like bums and get back some of that Bruin pride.
Ownership wants the playoff money more than a cup.
Great opportunity to bring up Poitras and for a couple weeks and slot him in at center on the top 6. Let's see what he can do.
Here's my vote: Geekie, Pasta, McAvoy, Zadorov, and Swayman are the key pieces right now. We need to bolster our top 6. I think, on paper, we have a solid bottom 6, we just need scoring. Obviously our mistakes need to be cleaned. Sway and Korpi are functioning well right now, so no goaltending changes. Our bottom 2 pairings need some work. Lohrei needs to play better (Mac too.) if we trade some spare parts, bolster the top six and bottom four, bring up guys like Blumel, Poitras, and Hagens, over the next couple years, we should be set
not my opinion on Lohrei!! i don't understand what the problem is with coaching, management & the fans.
The B’s do a lot of standing around puck watching in the defensive zone
Agree on Lindhom. He will be missed. When I seen the roster on the PBruins I had to get a 10 game pack. It’s been a breath of fresh air watching that team so far. They might have a sneaky steal with zajicek in net. He looks really good
Lohrei's lack of physicality makes me seriously doubt his ability to ever become sound defensively
No more soft swedes.
Man on man defence looks horrible if not done well. They are not executing in their own end. Change it now
I like that Sturm's trying to get another line as a scoring threat. Sure, Geekie n Pasta is an AWESOME combo, but splitting the two? Geekie might focus/ be more selfish? And not in a bad way? He might tend to look for Pasta a bit too much? Geekie's on pace for a 50 goal season?
I get it… the B's won, but, damn, that came at a cost. I also get that not calling up someone is a GM type plan. No point in taking up elevating players, when they can get by, as is. Maybe Khustodinov stays paired up on 1st line?
Beecher slips into 4th line?
I can't fault Korpi for last night's collapse. The B's played soft and let the Sabres back in. Not only on a FREEZE, do you see opponents alone, but you see 5 guys in Black and Gold puck watching and backs turned to opponents.
When they extended Sweeney two years, I started thinking there's a 2 year / 3 draft plan.
After reading all these comments, there's nothing more to say but
👉 we've got to get real.
We went all-in on Bergeron's last season, went into debt…
👉 we all agreed with it, loved Bert & Orlov
Here we are.
c'mon folks!
It's Halloween 🎃
I'm allowed to talk goalies again!
I believe Jeremy deserves a fresh start elsewhere
He could come back to kick our butts – but he's not going to get there in Boston.
He might be squandering his career at this point.
It isn't about the past with jeremy, but the future of an athlete in his prime that's floundering horribly.
I'm not his #1 fan, but he's a better goalie than this.
I do believe, when he's on, Korpisalo does help transition the puck better than Jeremy.
He's got better command using the boards.
He worked well with Brando last season picking up his rebounds off the boards.
We lose, but they are often higher scoring games.
After he gets through his brain farts, Joonas is fun to watch.
I am glad they are employing him more.
I like the rotation right now.
He's a filler. not going to bring us a cup – just enjoying what we can.
Thanks for post.
Court you are the ever optimistic beacon of positive vibes ..and your force field has a crack in it!! Korp is not all world but battles. Swayman body language after a goal is awful. Lohrie needs coaching & confidence ,not sitting in press box.. I am liking zadorov more and more. Brings some sandpaper-energy despite the struggles.
Fingers crossed, go B's
I am trying to decide if the Bruins are playing above, below or at expectations. They have looked decent, and they have looked like crap. They beat the Islanders and Sabers, not a great gauge really. I watched the Avalanche passing and moving the puck around then watch the Bruins and there is a clear and obvious difference.
I like what Marco Sturm had to say about Lohrei. They really need both Lindholms healthy to remain competitive
I’ll never claim to know much about hockey, but I called it that the Lohrei/McAvoy pairing wouldn’t work. I must be learning something
Bruins would probably have 3 more wins if Sturm didn't change the defensive system to man on man especially with so many games to start. Bruins have played more games than anyone.
Dude, I still don't get the hatred towards Swayman. I mean, this season, he played really well so far. If it weren't for the game against the Senators (which was disastrous defensively speaking), he would be in the top 10 goalies in the league right now(saved xG). The guys who hate him are fixated on him because of last year's contract negotiations (but let's be honest, we would all have done the same). When I see comments like “we should have kept Ullmark,” I find it so stupid and illogical: at what point is it the best solution to keep the older goalie when the younger one is performing at the same level? It makes no sense. Ullmark is btw the worst goalie in the league right now.
Give him a real top-six defense and he'll shine like never before (we can see that Carlo is missing a bit at the back btw):
Zadorov-McAvoy
Lindholm-Andersson
Lohrei-Peeke/Any right-handed defensive defenseman
Give Lohrei ice time, but not against the opposing team's top defensemen and forwards… That's counterproductive. You have to give the kid time to develop in all aspects of his game, and getting roughed up in every game and then benched doesn't help at all.
Put Lohrei on the wing and PP
He will score!
Maybe the Bruins can only have one Lindholm healthy at a time… hah. Great to see Khusi go from a healthy scratch/4th liner to making an impact on the first line. I think he has a top 6 skill set and is squandered on 3rd or 4th. I'd rather see Lohrei out there than Peeke or Joki. And I think they need more speed and skill to execute the man-on-man hybrid that Sturm wants. I hope Zadorov and McAvoy stay together. Canes tomorrow will be a big test.
Options for practice:
Proper line changes;
Bag skates🤬
