The AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack should annually do Whalers Night.
It’s a slap in the face to Hartford fans. When they moved the team, they wanted absolutely nothing to do with the fans. In fact, the owner moved the team even after meeting the season ticket goal that was supposed to keep the team in Hartford. And now the ownership can’t seem to get enough of the whalers stuff.
I would even be happy if they played a singular preseason game in Hartford but even that is too much effort. Truly a shame.

It is permanently attached to the New England Whalers, their WHA predecessor. I realize the NHL prefers to pretend the WHA didn’t exist, but the song pre-dates the NHL years of the team. The video alluded to that indirectly, but even the Hurricanes give the WHA years of its franchise the short shrift.

Great video, it’s always nice that NHL teams go back to their roots and honor their traditions, like what hurricanes did in the video when they were Hartford Whalers. Nice touch with scoreboards when Hurricanes score, black on yellow ribbon boards. Mimicking the old school black and yellow scoreboards made that Whalers night even more retro. That brass bonanza goal song should be permanent goal song.
The Hurricanes own the rights to the Whalers name so they can use it.

As a Whalers fan in Hartford area before if anyone got the team, I am grateful it was Carolina as they have respect. I like how they pay respect to their former organization. # classy.
