Not sure what to do with Brunicke. He is clearly not ready for the NHL, and he is regressing before our very eyes. But juniors? So it’s either learn nothing in juniors or lose all confidence and regress in the NHL. This agreement is really hurting this kid’s development.
Pickering is not ready, and he should be developing in the AHL. Same with Koivunen.
I know we are all excited about a youth movement, but having young players flail in the NHL isn’t helpful short- or long-term.
The old Pens are back. Play well, then spend 15 minutes looking drunk and amateur every game. These stretches of moronic, mind-blowing periods of turnovers and lack of passing will have them golfing early again this year.
Man, what a sickening 3rd to live through
Im not the type of guy that wears tin foil on his head but its tough to ignore how much better the guys are playing compared with last several years. All of a sudden they go from apathy and clear cut unforced errors to great goal tending, getting pucks on net, crashing the net, etc. Especially malkin. Plus big time offensive production. Is it as simple as a coaching change or what? If so why wouldnt they get rid of sullivan way sooner? Just an observation.
The cup winning Penguins had bang average goaltending and Fleury/Barrasso were often called out for allowing soft goals. But we won 5 cups. That's because we had a ridiculously high shooting percentage and dominated puck possession. Youth, speed and skill covered up for mediocre goaltending. Last night we had 17 shots on goal in the 2nd period and only scored once. Then we had 12 shots in the 3rd period and didn't score. That is a total of 29 shots in the final 40 minutes of the game and only scored one time. But people are so obtuse they think the problem will be solved by replacing the goalie. Let me tell those geniuses a thing or two .. the NHL has only a few goalies that MAYBE would have done better than Jarry (who has been otherworldly this year). And even those guys have off nights. We have not even had one elite goalie in the history of the franchise. You're solution is a very bad one. It's much simpler to rebuild the roster. But sorry… Continue chanting "fire the coach" and "the goalie sucks". Just remember you are telling everyone you don't know hockey, you aren't very smart and you don't know the history of this team.
I'm sorry crosby fault for Mathews goal, man what a shit game.
You can't play Crosby with Geno because it makes the rest of the team to easy to play against.
"Uh, what was that?"
Those are the real Penguins. This is what they are. You all have been watching a mirage.
Don't worry, guys, it was my wife's fault, not the team. I met her in 2018, the first year our beloved Pens did not win the cup. It's been downhill ever since. Last night they went up 3-0 to the team I hate the most in all of sports, and my wife walked in and decided to watch the game with me. It was 3-1 by the time she walked across the room to sit on the couch. The curse is real 🤦🏼😂
Good morning DK, I'm going to skip any kind of comment about the actual game. I'd like to throw out a question about Brunicke, his skating is beautiful, his offensive instincts are over and above, it may be just myself, although I don't think so, is his confidence just low right now? Any athlete in any sport goes through ups and downs with their confidence, but especially young ones. When we've seen him play with more confidence he fits right in imho, thoughts? I really hope we keep him up with the guys! Blessings, Victor 🙏
Enough with Jarry for the love god ENOUGH.
Jarry cannot be relied upon. H'es had 7 years to prove himself, he's not a top goalie. You can't even get anything for him, no team would want him. He's a dud contract. The guy is AWFUL under pressure and will never be able to handle playoff hockey.
.800 save percentage says it all
What did Berube say the Leafs at intermission? We could use some of that
We’re just going to casually forget that Matthews and Nylander are two of the best goal scorers in the league. We stopped pressing in the o zone because Acciari got hurt and Muse couldn’t roll 4 lines effectively. We need Brazeau back because Tomasino ain’t it.
Acciari himself wasn’t a giant issue, but choosing to compensate by playing Malkin and Crosby together I think eventually took their toll. Also, you can’t NOT blame Jarry. Hopefully he doesn’t completely lose confidence over this.
The main concerning thing from this game is in my opinion this is the first time this year we looked like last year's version of the pens. The 3rd period oddman rushes was what cost us this game
Jarry had some money on that game…
It wasn't not Jarry fault. The defense didn't fully cover Matthew. Mistake after mistake
Thank you DK. A defensive breakdown and tuckered out. They need to pace themselves better. The Leafs came on like gangbusters in the third period. Great show DK
They were outplaying Toronto so bad than went back to bad habits in the 3rd. Jarry you can make a save to stop
Momentum to. 2 games in a row of mediocre goaltending
