You know that Robbie has broken out when he had his best game as a leaf ever without having to score a goal or two to compensate for other poor areas of play. He looks like a complete players and his size no longer seems to be a disadvantage. The guy was pulling his weight in every aspect last night. Hope to see more of the same there cause he and McCabe were the only guys last night who were consistent the whole way through.
When I checked the score at the start of the 3rd and then the final score, my fist thought was "I wonder what Steve's blood pressure looks like right now"
As a Jays fan and a Pens fan, I'm ready to dig a grave right now.
As a Habs fan, I'm trying to figure out if I should be reassured by the 1st and 2nd period or terrified by the 3rd. Matthews was an absolute beast in the 20 minutes.

I also feel like stolarz probably joined in that second period break. The period one and two you can see penguins just standing in his eyes and no one doing anything about it. Third period they started to fight that spot away from the penguins

The fact that they came back and did that makes their play through the rest of the game even MORE frustrating. They have it in them, but they dont do it.

Steve let me tell you. I was at that game, first of the season for me. I was dejected after the second. It felt like I was gonna be worth seeing my first NHL game where I witnessed a shutout. And then Matthew scores, at least they broke the shadow, we literally right after they announced the goal in the building, willy gets his first, then the second one. Ironically, I was telling my father, McMann's been invisible tonight, then he gets the goal. But I was vibing in the third period. And I got to see Sidney Crosby play for the first time, that was amazing to see, other than EK getting his first (of course) against the leafs. I'll take the W. I'd argue we didn't deserve that game.
If Robertson had his brothers size, or was at least around 6’ he would probably be a top 50 player in the league at minimum. It’s such a shame he’s a runt.
Something worth noting about "well they're 3rd in the division!" – if they'd lost last night they'd be last place in the Eastern Conference. Difference between last and first right now is only five points.

I don't really agree with the narrative that the entire team was bad and all were giving up bad plays. A lot of them were. Nobody seems to notice (or care) but it was a phenomenal game from Robertson, basically start to finish. If you re-watch his plays he was close to scoring multiple times and created a bunch of other good offensive chances prior to the one McMann scored on. Of course 'its a game of inches' and all that, but I think the narrative about this game would be fairly different if there had been a little luck our way earlier. Wouldn't have made for the franchise record breaking comeback though
Third period was playoffs comeback hockey, something out of the Bruins playbook. Now continue every game and every period boys! Sometimes it takes being knocked down to get back up and show what you are really made of and show you've had enough. The problem though is this group did it , they were the performers. Now the healthy players are coming back in soon and that's going to change the dynamic again, throwing everyone off again. The healthy scratches are great, however are they going to mesh together as a team and be just as successful, with the great rookies who have stepped up out most likely. some have to sit out…
