A real #1 pick would have buried that open net he had. Instead, chomp your gum and choke on the opportunity. Laf is 3rd liner. In beer league.

  2. Not enough skill. Real problem is that the youth pool has been waisted and nowadays in NHL UFA's are not the answer, as if it ever worked here anyways. Dark times coming….

  3. The home away record just shows when they play healthy contending teams vs unhealthy contending/non-contending teams… once they start playing contending teams away the schedule will correct and show how bad this team actually is…

  4. Hi Jon, the effect of the defensive style on the road versus at home is the only rational explanation I have heard so far, and I think you are right. The problem is almost every team does the same thing — so really it comes down to the Rangers' horrendous lack of offensive firepower showing up most acutely against solid defensive play — ie esp during home games.

For now, the Rangers can capitalize on loose defense on the road and at least keep the game close, but who knows how long before opposing teams catch on and change their approach when the Rangers come to town.

  5. You won't catch me making excuses for Lafreniere. He turns the puck over almost every time he touches it, wins few to no puck battles, and in the rare case where he manages to get a shot on goal it's usually right in the goalie's breadbasket.

  6. I’ve been watching Rangers hockey since 1990. I’ve seen good teams and bad teams alike. I was also fortunate to witness the 1994 Stanley Cup run. But watching last night’s 3rd period was probably the worse hockey I’ve witnessed in years 😡

  7. Make them wear their whites all the time….. You may want to serious reconsider your hypothesis. Negative reinforcement can be just as powerful as negative reinforcement. MSG seemingly does get into their heads for whatever reason but the positives you attribute to their away play should work just effectively at home. I think a cloud and memories of list warriors still looms greatly in the MSG locker room. They need to get all that in the open so they can dispense with it more quickly.

  8. Do we even have any fans in the arena? Unless I’m wrong but is MSG the quietest arena in the NHL. I never hear any chants or anything. Yeah I’m watching on tv but it seems like it’s always quiet. And it’s not just season even years past .

  9. There's time to get it together. Still some positives to build around. Might take some time, but Trocheck-Rempe return, along with call-ups from AHL could help significantly.

Both Laffreniere and Panarin are a train wreck. Both are working their way out of NY.

  10. Rangers players hate management. There's ZERO TRUST of management. Also when you see an assistant coach standing by Sullivan who's already been the coach of said Rangers….players are wondering wtf? Coach go round, player go round….no wonder they suck.

  11. Last night Chris Kreider scored his seventh goal in his first eight games with the Ducks…… the entire Rangers team has six goals in their six home games this season with five coming in one game. The Ducks are 8-3-1 , they have dynamic young players, are well coached and are fun to watch……… basically they’re everything the Rangers aren’t. Drury’s next memo should be a resignation.

  12. Let's look at the players on this team who are expected to score. They all have great shots, but they all have a pass first mentality: Mika, Laffy, Bread, Miller just to name a few. Also I've noticing the pattern of not shooting quickly enough. There's always the slight wait, adjust the puck, look for a guy to tip and then shoot. And that includes the D. Guys like Fox are in that bad habit already: hold, wait, then shoot. Kreider's not here anymore to tip the weak shots to net.. Shoot the fucking puck! It's frustrating to watch and I think that's one of the reasons why the defense and goalies are already set and waiting for the shot. Because they have plenty of time, because the Ranger shooters telegraph everything – and slowly, too. They continue to make shooting a precious moment. JUST SHOOT HARD and OFTEN!!!!

  13. I don’t know if Lafreniere is a worse pick than Montoya or Lundmark, but it’s definitely close. Especially with that contract, either the Rangers stick with him, or if they decide to trade him to another team, the Rangers will probably have to eat a contract from the opposing team in that trade. I don’t know if calling up Gabe is the answer, but it certainly can’t be worse than what Laffy is currently doing. Hopefully management have enough guts to healthy scratch Lafreniere.

  14. Are the Ranger fans finally tired of making excuses for Alexi Turnover? They made excuses for him , needs more ice time, needs to play top six, needs to play on PP. Yet he still sucks and looks like he is playing in slow motion. ENOUGH he needs to sit.

  15. So Cuylle was going to replace Kreider and stand in front of the net during the power play.
    WHEN????😡.
    Schneider is back!

  16. Rangers had the advantage in net (again) and the goals given up didn't look like the Montour slapper or Beauvillier's lucky-as-balls deflection.

  17. You know it's bad when the highlight of this game for me was the intermission interview with Jagr. I was thinking in my head him at 53 years old might give this team more scoring than they have now. lol I agree with you on the booing as well and love what Igor said. He's doing all he can, he's not there to score goals. With you on Laff too, that play with Laba showed a whole lack of effort. Likely to end up dumping him and hope Perreault continues his AHL magic and can bring it to the NHL level.

  18. I understand playing the defensive game, but they are getting prime chances! No reason for this imo. The d play is turning into scoring opportunities and they are just not converting.

  19. From the outside looking in (canes fan) defensive first hockey isnt the rags jam. In transition they are most dangerous. Leave the defensive first hockey up to the Hurricanes.

  20. One shot in the last 28 minutes versus a team with 3 of their 6 regular defensemen out injured is inexcusable! Pathetic performance.

  21. Very complex situation. This Team right now is compartmentalized. There is talent. We need a new GM . I believe Sullivan is Top Loading the lines. Personally Mika and Bread have maybe 2 seasons. Both are not Playoff caliber. They are still in the same funk as last year.Maybe losing at home will wake up Dolan and hill make a move with a really bad Gm. Let's Go Rangers

  22. Accepting that Lafrenier is a bust at this point is a hard pill to swallow but the fact that he managed to get a long term contract extension makes a bad situation even worse. He can’t even get off a one timer after 6 years in the league!

  23. NYC just elected a communist for a mayor. I wouldn’t play well in a city that did that either. Bet the vibe in that town is all out of whack. I’d play great as soon as I was away from that b/s too. Is it coincidental they find best success on road? Let’s see what happens by 42 games in right?

  24. Someone tell me why a guy can run through our goalie and not get a glove to the mouth at least.
