45 SOG to 20 SOG and we lose 5-1. If we keep doing that, the dam will break. However, if our goalies can't start stopping some pucks, we are screwed. I think Gibson had like a .750 SV% or something like that.
Did the team do a little too much tinkering? I know MBN was having some rookie struggles, but that 3rd line has looked dead since he got sent down. Maybe some consistency on defense might help. Instead of endlessly shuffling pairings and moving guys in and out of the lineup every single night.. stick with the same 6 guys as much as you can. Our defense is going to be a weakness no matter what, but maybe having them play together consistently might help. Idk.. I'm at an absolute loss. We have key guys having sophomore slumps and multiple rookies starting to show signs of being worn out. They've never played this many games before, they're against NHL players, and due to the Olympics the season is condensed.. so they are playing even more games in a shorter span of time.

If I were the wings I’d tank every single solitary year until I get the number 1 pick. We aren’t going anywhere with this core. Hate to break it to everyone. A boring team full of bottom tier 2nd and 3rd liners. We HAVE to find talent somehow. Trade #1 picks for the next decade for McKenna. The only chance we will ever truly win again is if we get a player like that. We don’t have the scouting staff to build elite players with diamond in the rough picks. Do something Yzerman. This team is brutal to watch even when we win.

I don’t know what the bigger issue is: we’re in year 7 of the rebuild and have no superstar talent, or we have no enforcers/instigator/overall physical presence. We have some of the tallest guys in the NHL on our team and they all skate like newborn deer. Throw the fucking body around, drop the gloves, do something, anything, to make the other team second guess a play cause they might get steamrolled. Say what you will about Hamonic but he seems like he’s the only one willing to drop the gloves and get physical when the game calls for it.
Bottom 6 need to go. Bring up all the kids, let them play.
The NHL screwed this team with their draft lottery. We should have a number 1 overall pick in at least one prior draft and some number 2's in there other years. Without that you miss out on guys like Celebrini and Bedard who are I believe leading the league or darn near it in points right now. You can blame Yzerman all you want but he can't get a number one pick unless a damn lottery gives him one. The last place team in the league should get the number 1, period. I get that it won't change by me complaining but we need to deal with the picks we're given. Next year someone gets Mckenna and that kid is the next Mcdavid if you watch him. You watch, a big market team like the NY Rangers or Washington with Ovechkin soon to retire will get this kid if they miss the playoffs. The NHL has given most of these number 1 through the lottery these picks to big market teams for their market influence. The Red Wings will never get a fair shake in the draft lottery, but it's randomly drawn they say, yeah sure.

These podcasters and many on this platform are missing what's going on here, in my opinion. Although you must defend, in an effort to prevent and stop goals from going in the Wings net, you MUST rely on those who can score as.well, regardless if you're a forward or a defenseman. A well rounded defenseman has as much responsibility as a forward to score goals, which is why I think Seider is no longer an asset to this hockey team. If this team falls behind, goals are more valuable than a nothing but playing defensive hockey player like Mo Seider. These podcasters and many others on this platform continue blaming other hockey players on this team when this team is doing what it can to groom players like Mo Seider as a backup captain or even a franchise player. Just watch how this guy plays with the puck. Watch Seider as he takes the puck passed the Wings blue line, especially when the Wings are on a power play. This guy is too clumsy, scared,.and timid to set up a power play offense, so what does he do? He drops it off virtually EVERY TIME to a forward heading towards the center of the rink. Just watch him. This is who the Wings are paying nearly $9 mil a year as the future hope of the Wings. Many people were right about Seider when he was picked in the first round by the Wings, that they were making a big mistake and putting all their eggs in one basket when they drafted him. I don't care if Seider plays the whole 60 minutes a game. If he's not a well rounded defenseman, he's a liability, regardless of what these podcasters and others on this platform platform say. Seider is one of the major reasons why the Wings can't do anything, especially on his line. If you haven't noticed, Sandin-pelikka and some of the other young players, including the Swedes Edvinnson and Johansson, are much better than Seider ever will be with the puck. Seider should is too predictable on the ice in an offensive capacity, he doesn't have the necessary skills, and no finesse whatsoever. He's clumsy on the ice and he can't puck handle as well as the other Swedish defensemen. He should be limited to playing just defense. Seider is a liability when he's handling the puck, but the Wings organization, these podcasters,and many on this platform don't see it. The longer Seider continues this malaise playing not being a well rounded player, and with as much time that the Wings play him in an average game, the Wings will continue losing games, I can pretty much assure you of that. Seider is well over rated as a player since he cannot play reliable offensee. And how about putting somebody in front of the net to distract the opposing goalie and get second chance opportunities. That's an idea! They ought to put Seider in front of the opposing goal for obvious reason—- to screen, score, and be a leader for his club.
About 50 weeks ago this team went through a flat streak like this that lasted more than a month. It cost Lalonde his job (he should have been gone long before this). The ONLY player who really played hard through that time was Alex DeBrincat. It seemed obvious that the team didn’t want to be there and now the same thing is happening. I don’t expect this team to continue at a 8 wins 4 losses pace but the team is not finishing and just tossing passes around. There needs to be solid accountability by individual players for these poor performances.

Very frustrating game though I was happy with the 45 shots on goal. I would like to see some changes to the lineup closer to the start of the season. A little too much rotation and would like to see Kasper back on the 2nd line as soon as he turns it around.

Gibson giving up three goals on 18 shots against Chicago. I was able to watch two plus minutes of the game against the Rangers before shutting it off. They were slow and the Rangers kept beating them to the puck. This is not a good team. It doesn';t mean matter whio the coach is. This team sucks.
