I would rather the Leafs tank… Get a good draft pic. I don't have any interest in watching another playoff run with same guys.I still say Nylander is their best player . Maybe trade him now. I would like to see Matthews traded as well. Era is over. Can't he ever say anything good to the fans? Unhappy guy man……..Trade value not good at the moment though. Team always looks like they hate putting on a leaf jersey. Now Knies is even starting to play soft. It's so weird how when you become a leaf how you loose passion . If you gamble on yourself you will become disconnected. I don't think they are right now . But I do believe sometimes man. Some games. I would love to see a block buster deal made man. Tired of the drama and beer league games.
You say a terrible schedule….they couldn’t have an easier schedule to start the season. pretty much played all non-playoff teams and pretty much home for all their games. How can you not have it anymore easier they’re just no good plain and simple excuse after excuse that’s all you guys say.
The Leafs could have answered the hit on any Boston Bruin. But never happened. This is the team the GM has assembled. No changes or grit added in the off season.
I'd want to push back on the statement, "not every team has a Mathews, Nylander, taveras " well Mathews isnt what he used to be. A ton of mid teams have a few great players and the rest of them are just fill.. even buffalo has a bunch of great players, tage Thompson, tuch, Dalian I think his name is spelt. Ottawa has Brady, Claude, stuizle ect.

From Lou/ Shanahan Babcock to Berube, Kessel to Marner, perhaps the deserved “whipping boy” was Mathews all along. As a fan, I get the feeling this team lacks an identity/culture, and they don’t have each other’s back- GUTLESS! Time to pull off humongous multi player trade and shake it up.
There is no excitment with this Leaf Team. The Bench has no energy and they are still getting pushed around too much.Mathews should never had been selected to be the Captain. Zadorov just man handles the Leafs. Wish we still had Colton Orr and Frazer on the team.

From the outside it feels like they are lacking their secondary leader. Marner leaving seems to have left a pretty massive gap. Who is the number2 guy on this team? Is it Nylander? Tavares? Knies? So far none of them. We thought Knies was going to step into a big role. Where is his personality?? Tavares is old af. Nylander is a lone sniper wolf. There will be a MASSIVE trade if this doesnt change quick

Great to see many of the comments acknowledging the team realistically too. Will be interesting to see a Matthews-less team (seen it before but) with this years squad.

Bourne tries as usual defend the core. But only Tavares has been solid . The core has been empty too often. Matthevs is the face of the team , and he has lost his passion and goal scoring touch.
Gloomy days ahead for Leafs fans. The team goes down and up. Berube is not able to turn the trend any better, permanently. It will be a long season ahead.
Better start talking to Nashville about Jussi Sarros if you want to make the playoffs. Think that over for a minute.

Detroit kinda has a sluggish D core, but they still have Seider, Edvinsson, and Axel Sandin Pellikka, and all 3 of them can skate with the puck.
