What are your thoughts on the Jets so far this season?
We just look really old and slow. Like these young teams coming out of their rebuilds are skating circles around us and I don’t think it’s something we can really do anything about until we finally embrace the youth movement. Chevy needs to stop adding 30+ year olds that are past their prime, and retool our roster. I wouldn’t mind taking 1 or 2 years to be bad, maybe try to get our guys with promise up from the minors, and then hopefully in 2 years we can have guys like Yager, Lambert, and Salo more comfortable at the NHL pace, and bring more speed to our lineup. While still having our top guys like Scheifele, Connor, Vilardi, Morrissey and Hellebuyck all still playing at a high compete level, just with more depth speed / support. If we were to fix something right now, it HAS to start with our D core, most guys we have in our lineup, would be in the AHL on MOST other teams, which just isn’t acceptable if you’re trying to win a cup.

Draft young prospects but sign a bunch of old guys.
Now a grinding team that's hard to watch.
Boring
Jets need to embrace the young depth the team has and give them more chances to perform, instead of signing and starting 30-35 year olds.
Elite jets content.
They need more scoring guys then the top line
Defence style is not like last year
They need to have a "retool" year where they let the younger players get minutes and refind what type of team they want to be because old and slow aint really getting you far in the NHL
It's been a problem for years and it's from the same atmosphere that attracts players to sign in Winnipeg.
Family atmosphere Chipman/Chevy liking their guys.
Even Pearson he played with Scheifele/under Hawerchuk in Barrie.
Speed and youth is a factor I like Toews but having slower bottom 6 guys with him won't work idc what fans say. Guys like Toews,Lowry,Vlad,Nino,Iafallo,Nyquist sure can play 2nd line but arnt 2nd line players. More middle 6/3rd line. When you sign 30+yr olds instead cycle youth and lack of top end talent you cant expect to go far.
When I mention guys like Kadri,Schenn,Barzal,Benson/Byram,Andersson,Stamkos they are upgrade over Demelo/currentD and under right team can succeed more.
We have assets Bomediene,Freijs,picks,Lambert,Chibrikov,Barlow with a mix of older players if it continues. Jets need to by deadline not aquire a UFA but signed player add to core like a Ehlers to add with Toews/Perfetti.
Even Demelo could be moved down to 3rd pair and get a top 2 guy.
Im talking 1-2 big trades need to happen you cant be a 1 line team and 1 dman.
Certified top 6 or a top 3dman.

It still leaves holes but we get a 20yr old and 24yr old from western canada who would stay.
I also feel Stamkos can be good pickup for powerplay/offence ik hes old but he wont be 1st line or as dependant on Jets as he is on Preds. Barzal was healthy scratch hes another guy.
if Mike comrie played 41 games and Connor hellebuyck played 41 games, comrie would have a better record !!!
What are you gonna do right? They invested in stellar offence and didn't make big enough moves regarding the defence. Essentially, they are becoming a veteran team, which is great during the playoffs, but getting there is the challenging part. I think they will rebound, just due to how they are all such smart players.
Either this losing streak will be the start of something great or will be a downfall for a really bad season.
What I mean is that every team goes through 3 to 4 stretches of playing really really shitty and the Jets are in that period where they’re playing really really shitty. It’s how you bounced back.
We can be sitting here next week and the Jets could be on a five game-winning streak and we’re talking about how good everything is right now.
Personally, this will make or break the team this year if they bounce back and go on a good heater around Thanksgiving and near the Christmas break. Then that losing streak would be a blessing in disguise because it would’ve shaped them to get better early than later in the season.
If they keep going on a path of winning two losing four, then it’s gonna be one of those kind of seasons, but we’ll see what happens
