My bad, meant 2nd goal from the point
Put #8 back on the first PP and #48 on the second PP.
Everyone relax about slumps, injuries…when we're contending they'll matter, right now they don't…this year's just about assembling a team…injuries create opportunities to see what you've got on hand, and what you need.
demidov was shooting for a while, and he 2 scored beautiful goals the one timer and the wrist top corner. i thought he was improved new version of himself shooting so much, but then he stopped. that said, he almost make a sick play with hutson but hutson hit the pole, unlucky.
if dobson is 9.5mil matheson deserve 11mil , super player.
Yes the Canadiens have to be bigger , gallgher and Veleno don’t belong on a checking line . Gallgher should retire and Veleno should become and interior decorator
lets not panic , just couple of powerplay goals and we win. not asking much, 20% plz, just few goals 😀
Nice to see the Habs outshoot their opponent and get nearly 30 shots. 😊
sugar coat all you want…Habs are in trouble
florian is motivated now, he see roster spots available xD
The Canadiens turn a 5-on-3 power play into a 3-on-3 by having two of their forwards behind the goal line! Boston says thank you Habs. 😊
If Montreal doesn't beat Columbus on Monday, we'll really know where they stand this year.
Gallagher is NOT a goal scorer. He should never be on the power play. Davidson would be a much better choice on the second unit.
Making the playoffs changed and increased the expectations for this team for the fans. I don’t think it changed the plans for the team for upper management.
Dach has to be gone next year. The guy can't stay healthy. He ain't built for the NHL period!
Some of you seem very nonchalant about what’s happening right now , this is a mess. 4 years of rebuild but still no center , tremendous amount of picks wasted on maybes . Now the habs aren’t bad enough to finish in the bottom and draft quality but they’re not a playoff team , fans are delusional AF , somehow they think we have great prospects for the future ? Who? Who do we have in the system ? Beside a couple of “maybes”
The habs are poorly built, not a single decent left handed talented center in the entire system , picks wasted on Reinbacher and Slafkovsky, false hope based on brainless media hype on prospects like beck , Mesar , Hage ect .
4 years through a rebuild , a record of 48picks and still , Hughes was unable to find a single impact player or a center. Why is Gallagher still in the lineup? Right , cause Montreal has nothing in the system to replace those relics.
Hughes is great at signing players at discount but he sucks when it comes to trades or drafting , just brutal
Thank god for bergevin or there wouldn’t be much of a show in Montreal
This could be a whole lot different if the habs didn’t draft Slafkovsky and reinbacher
Montreal have no assets to trade , none ! They can’t afford to trade Hage or Fowler , those are the only two prospects with some value outside the nhl , as for active players no other teams are interested for the habs garbage . The only player with a bit of value who would be worth trading is Slafkovsky
I repeat , nobody wants the habs garbage and the guys with a bit of value won’t fetch much in a trade , you won’t find a decent center if you offer deadwood like Reinbacher .
How do you have so many drafts picks and quality draft picks with an already decent group like caufield , Suzuki , Guhle and still in this position 4 years later 🤦♂🤦♂
This is one ugly rebuild
Kampf would be twice better than Veleno. Not i think its time to bring Florian to the roster
Look, it's time to call a spade, a spade.
I've complained about this before, in the playoffs last year it was plainly obvious that Marty has no tactics to his coaching style.
Marty relies heavily on having superior talent to beat teams. They went out in 5 in the playoffs and were throughly out coached.
This season, be honest, Montreal obtained their record winning against non playoff teams.
Usually, a non playoff team has a rash of injuries or poor coaching…..guys who have no tactics.
Marty is an offensive player, he's in the HOF but that will only get you so far as a coach.
Wayne Gretzky holds more offensive records STILL almost 30 years after he retired, which are still intact.
As a coach, Gretzky could not translate those skills he had as a player into that as a coach. WHY?
It's simple, Gretzky never planned his game, he simply felt it and quickly reacted to the game as a player. His line mates were gifted hockey players and instinctively went to the places on the ice where they had to be.
Now that Marty has faced teams with skilled tactical coaching staffs they have been decimated. Montreal's style has been effectively analyzed by these tactical coaching staffs and their talent has been neutralized where there defense looks like Swiss cheese, their powerplay has gone dead, and can't score 5 on 5.
OMG, against Boston, Montreal's penalty killing team although having few chances to get on the ice, OUTSCORED their powerplay.
Honestly, in over 60 plus years of watching Montreal play, I can't remember a time where Montreal had 7 pp opportunities, several 5 on 3's to boot and were outscored by their penalty killing.
Most of the players have improved their game over these rebuilding years but one position that has not improved is the coaching.
Marty has NO TACTICS to solve the teams problems, coaches who are tactical quickly adapt to Montreal and there is Marty, with his hands pulled out of his pockets showing us…..HE'S GOT NOTHING to counter.
Either, Marty needs to go or he needs an assistant coach or coaches who know how to be tactically inclined.
Right now Montreal doesn't have any of that.
Marty simply pours his highly skilled, highly talented players on the ice and Marty simply crosses his fingers and prays 🙏.
It's time to upgrade the coaching, I don't care how it's done but we need coaches for the pp, for 5 on 5, for putting together lines, for defense strategies both from d-men & o-men.
Marty pulled such a boner which he caved to the French media and pulled Dobes from the net, when he was white hot to be replaced by the goalie who had the worst numbers or close to the worst in the entire NHL.
To boot, to pull another boner, Marty goes and publically announces right after the NJ game that Marty is the team's number one goalie. Marty destroyed any sense of team building and confidence with that statement.
Face it, Marty needs to be sat down and told that management is bringing in tactical coaches to help Marty because it's obvious Marty has no solutions.
It's time to upgrade the coaching. Quickly and seriously.
Kirby Dach is Super. Injury. Prone. Release him or trade him to Toronto for a roll of hockey tape.
Laine might be faster after his operation?
Demidov has looked lost for 3 games now. He shows no confidence at this point.
Marco would probably be surprised but I agree with him 100% on his powerplay analysis. And for some reason the coaching staff has taken a pp line with 4 of the most creative players in the league, and made them predictable.
We missed Newhook big time!
Is Montembeau part of some experiment?
The Injury curse is back! 😱
Too much stress, unnecessary changes wanted from the journalists, fan and non positive comments for nothing didn't help the team ….in my opinion
And I agree… Kudos to the team in general for their hard work 😊
You don't have to be a genius to put Cole in the Laine spot. The Habs have a possible Kucherov-Stamkos duo and can't see it.
Let's say it: letting Dvo go to bring in cheap NoBike was a big mistake.
Nobody wants to say it but one big problem with the PP is that Hutson doesn't have a big shot. He took a one-timer against Dallas on the PP and the Stars announcers commented that is what you want to give up on the PP from the Habs. This is why not having a big body a la Kreider is a problem. Hutson needs a screener or deflector for his shot to become dangerous and for teams to respect. Imo Matheson is better than him 5 v 3 because he can blast the puck.
Must move on from Dach. Injuries before and during habs,….zero reliability as a player. Not a judgement of character, but simply he his nothing but false hope.
I fractured and dislocated my ankle 8 months ago ( heading to a habs game march 3rd, the irony, in front of lucilles ) And i just started walking again last month, and i have to deal with severe pain everyday walking or even standing… Everyone comes back from an ankle fracture differently, I wish newhook a lot more luck than i had !!! I have so much more respect for athletes, knowing what they have to go through to come back from injury to play at top level on top of all the hitting !!! My career would be over after the injury i just had. I dont think you can truly grasp that as a fan, if you havent gotten through a severe injury…
People calling Guhle, Dach, or Newhook weak, are absolute idiots to me…
Side note, last few games, how many times do they miss the damn net ?!? Drove me crazy
Show Slaf a video of Tim Kerr.
Btw anybody who was objective saw that the first month schedule was easy and the second month hard. Losing is not a big concern. The injuries are.
One more point: imo looks like Struble knows he is about to take Jackeye's job and is adding fighting to his game to make Jackeye 100% expendable. I wish the Habs could add a bigger Carrier-type but I know finding a big RHDman is almost impossible.
Yep , dach can go , we dont need em
We can't expect one player who's only 20yrs old, who's not a fighter, to do all the physical work on the first two lines. Slaf is big but he can't take on 2-3 big guys at a time. If Slaf was playing on the Bruins he would be a different player but here in Montreal we love the small players and so this will never change.
way too many passes way too many tymes ~
Going into every game, they know they need to score 4 goals to win. They dont have the talent to do that, desperately need a second line centre now.
Wrap Dach in bubble wrap and remove him from the NHL.
The big bodied guys we do have seem to be coached into being finesse players instead of sandpaper players, and the others are gentle giants IMO.
Dach and Guhle are injury prone and are the definition of “made of glass”. It is not a dig, it is a fact. Let’s call a spade, a spade.
i noticed that too ~ what the hell ~ saw bolduc beside the net ~ no one in front ~ whats going on ~
Confidence in their dressing room yes, if it was complete! But unfortunately it's missing many pieces. So they really need to make a move either on the waiver wire or a transaction with another team that is also struggling so that their leverage is stronger.
Thanks for this show guys!
