Its not s surprise. The NHL has a dean of discipline in George Parros. For those who don't know, George was a goon. Only the NHL would employ this clown as head of discipline. His decisions on these hits are constantly mind boggling. Clown show at best. Hopefully Romanov gets well and lights him up at UBS when they come in to town

  2. I'm an Islander fan but I agree there should be no further action. If you watch in slow-mo, you'll see the contact is caused by Mayfield, but the situation is caused with how Rittich plays the puck. Honestly, Mayfield should have been called for interference because he clearly does. First Mayfield and Rants skates touch just as Mayfield hooks him. All this turns rant to the left just as Romo also turns left to avoid Rittich, putting them on a collision course. If Rittich isn't in the way, Romo continues his original course around the back of the net and it's Rant who hits the boards, probably resulting in a hooking or interference penalty for Mayfield. In short, both players are committed to circling behind the net until Scott and Rittich get involved.

  3. Thats soft play from Romanov. Unless there is problem with the old injured shoulder, there is no chance to get injured there, since he went to the boards alone and even softened the blow with his hand.

  4. Objectively, Mayfield is the player that caused that collision 100%. There are plenty of slowed down clips that illustrate exactly what happened, that’s why zero fines. Mayfield almost got his own player merc’d on this one.

  5. to be honest i am not a Rantanen fan at all.On the other hand i have to judge from what i see and that play was as unfortunate bad timing as the player who got his throat slashed.Didnt read the comments yet but obviously Rantanen was going at high speed on the forecheck. As he he is clearly going for it he gets tripped/hooked by Mayfield making Rantanen left leg goiong out of control. His normal reaction was to protect his fall by trying to lean on Romanov. We can clearly see Rantanen falling through in one motion from the hooking/tripping by Mayfield.

Just an unfortunate play with terrible outcome but there was no intention of boarding Romanov in a way Tom Wilson or Scott Stevens would have done.

  6. dudes……maybe you guys are forgetting that the game is really SLOW to the people PLAYING the game. Once your at Junior hockey your at full speed…..by the time your a professional the game is slowing down mentally and they have tons of "mental time" to consider their next action. This was no accident. He had so many "hockey seconds" and he decided to push him into the boards. PERIOD.

  7. That 100% was not on Rantanen, you're an absolute goon if you think he deserved to be fined for that. Get your dumb soft mentality out of the NHL. If you even know ANYTHING about Rantanen you know full well this is NEVER something he would intentionally do, he is the guy who helps people up after they take those falls. Fine the islanders idiot , he almost got one of his teammates merc'd

  8. Bs, suspend him until romanov comes back! Mikko clearly cross checked him into the boards, mayfields skates have nothing to do with the hit

  9. patrik got heated up because he cant make islander play better. frustration, but don´t throw that frustration on Rants

  10. Its serious injury but the player did not have to go to hospital? So it's not serious😂 Fine Patrick Roy for having mental breakdown, what a clown Roy is and his wife agrees with me.

  11. How hard is to look at the replay instead of looking at shouting Islander's coach's weird beard. #24's fault. NYI fans out there, just stop it.

  12. hockey is my favorite sport that's NOT HOCKEY the league should just say we are not going to suspend a STAR PLAYER unless we have to, I don't think that's what Rantanen wanted that to happen, but it IS OBVIOUS HE WAS REACKLESS and these things have a way of evening out

  13. I'm a Carolina fan, so I obviously don't like Rantanen, but this was not intentional. People need to stop acting like accidents don't happen.

  14. what hit

there is a slight contact of clicking skates at the goal line, the goal line is 11 feet from the boards

at worst its an interference call

  15. If Rant is not at fault…why the extra push. Accidents do happen but you dont give him more of a reason to hurt the guy.Pfft. I feel like it was not a good look on Rant
