The Oilers never bothered to get McDavid a goalie. It's crazy.
The goaltending issue has been following this team for years. Lots of goalies have swapped teams over the years and Edmonton wasn’t in on any of them. Also, the Hyman injury really hurt them. He still doesn’t look like himself.
Plus, those offer sheets really hurt and honestly so did losing Ryan Mcleod. Bringing in Arvidsson and Jeff Skinner last year was not the answer.

Welp I hate to say it but the 2 things that need to change and hasn't is goaltending. Skinner is a decent goalie at best but he lets in the softest goals at the absolute worst times. Pickard is pmayin horrible rn too

Skinner, Bouchard, and nurse are given too big of a role imo. Watching Bouchard give up 20 breakaways a game as a $10 million defenseman drives me mad, then you got skinner to bail him out… I'm not even an oilers fan and this team makes me mad. Mcdavid deserves better
Not sure how you can use analytics then go on to undervalue Bouchard. Out of the 3 d-men contracts they handed out, his was by far the most important and is by far the best. He’s a top 10 dman and by all metrics he’s honestly top 5. You should look at what happens to McDrai this season and historically when they don’t have Bouchard on the ice with him. He’s elite
As a fan who watches every game can say that if they play like they have over the last three Capitals, Tampa, and The Panthers it's at least a playoff season for sure. BUT goaltending and Defensive turnovers will fuck them in the playoffs.

Edmonton’s goaltending prospects are ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD! In the ECHL, Samuel Jonsson and Connor Ungar are tearing it up and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to go to Bakersfield next season for some more development before making it to the big club the season after. The unfortunate truth about that is, that would be McDavid’s final year on his contract……..that is not good.
They should have signed Hart when they had the chance
idk why people ever thought Skinner was good tbh it was always really obvious to me that he was out of his depth an being carried by the best players in the world but because they managed to drag his dead weight ass to the finals twice the front office seems to believe hes some elite talent. I was laughing my ass off when they announced they got a new goalie coach instead of a goalie this off season, lets be perfectly clear about who stuart skinner is: hes a guy who only ever touched nhl ice because campbell was a copmplete dumpster fire. the fact that theyve championed him as a cup contending 1a goalie for 3 years now has to be one of the most embarrassing things ive seen an nhl franchise do.

They are paying 4 dudes like 60% of their payroll and 2 of them show up on a consistent basis. Nurse and Bouchard suck

the problem is clear, its goaltending, the team is top 5 is goals for and average of 3.08 GAA, with that many goals scored. your team should be better, they need to find someone new in net asap and they'll be back. (same problems the leafs, habs and canucks)
