There have been a few comments about Hughes' demeanor recently – implying that he has checked out. IMO, it would be more scary to see him smiling, given all that is happening to the Canucks.
The problem is I don't have any confidence in this management's ability to trade for and take on younger players. Just because a player is young doesn't mean they will be good. Their ability to evaluate talent is extremely poor.
This team is young enough. They're already the 7th youngest team in the league. And the 2nd smallest team. They need size and they need toughness. This team is way too small and have no grit. They're getting injured and bullied constantly.
What are JR and PA trying to accomplish in the "short term" by trading off their veterans? Are they hoping to improve this season or are they looking to the future?
Frank is the worst
I prefer a mix. Picks and prospects. I think Kyle expects way too much from draft picks.
Let’s keep our picks, add a couple more us trade and write this year off as developmental. All the young players in over their heads this year are coming back better next year. We need to pull off a couple huge moves next summer and pray for Demko to bounce back.
Bring Zadorov back and the fans will be behind this management team again. The intangibles that he brings are invaluable. Let alone, someone to protect Hughes. Imagine having Zadorov and Kane on the same team as they seem to bring out the best in one another.
