TOUT POUR QUINN ? McLELLAN FED UP ET RED WINGS ONT BESOIN D’AIDE – Podcast Winged Wheel – 27 novembre 2025

This team is bad. They don’t do the little things well at all. Defensive zone exits are terrible, they don’t win battles for the puck, offensive zone entries are terrible they don’t dump the puck in deep enough and they don’t forecheck hard enough. They are very soft why are Larkin and Raymond having to battle with people consistently. The 4th line doesn’t do anything well they should have an identity bring up Watson and Shine who would provide some grit.

  2. I can’t believe that the Wings lost to a team that had JUUSTUS ANNUNEN in net. Currently, he is the worst goaltender in the league. How on Earth do you lose against them? Defensive breakdowns and missing Simon Edvinsson that’s how.

    Bench Hamonic
Send Gustafson back to the AHL
    Bump Danielson to 2C
Bring up an AHL center for 3C
    Bring Edvinson back
    Bring Cossa or Postava up
    Give Talbot a break
Send Kasper to the AHL for further development to get his scoring touch back

  3. Unfortunately there are no future NHL defensemen in Grand Rapids. In 2018 we could have selected Hughes or Bouchard instead of Zadina. This is also the result of having too many teams in the league. How many teams have six competent d-men? Greed has watered down the product and Bettman wants more expansion.

  4. I have been sounding these alarms for over a year now. We get called Yzerman haters and "You don't know hockey," but I've been pointing it out time and again there is no longer a luxury for this team to sit back and do nothing. There is no luxury to balk at prices. Go out and do something. "It's not time to trade stuff away." It was. It's been that way since you lost a playoff spot on a tie-breaker. The Wings are capped at how good they can get unless you make a move. They don't have much longer until Larkin and Cat are over the age curve.

Which way? Tear down or swing for the fences? This is ALL on the front office. ALL OF IT.

It frustrates me to no end that this team passed up on Matt Grzelcyk. There's no way he's passing up on Detroit if is only option was a PLAYER TRYOUT. There was another bonafide top four Dman that this team decided it didn't care to sign. He signed for two years in San Jose. Who is passing up Detroit for SAN JOSE? You could have had Dmitry Orlov. THERE WERE OPTIONS.

  5. The Wings only overpay for the likes of Copp,Compher and Holl. I truly believe that Todd is the one that wanted Hamonic. I can see ASP being part of a deal for Hughes. Canucks are probably going to want to unload one of their less desirable players like Kane in the deal. Include Rasmussen and whatever pick, prospect package to do it.

  6. AlJo getting scorched by Stamkos was just brutal to watch. How did you get outskated by Stamkos? ROR was a pain all night as well. Also trade for Blankenburg he was a pest all night.

  7. The loss to the Preds cuts deep. Gave up the 3rd period, lucky there was not a 4th period.
Looks like the Red Wings will be drafting 12th.

  8. Ryan talking about not getting a chance to draft a superstar. So why was there the big push to make the playoffs? The late season win streaks hurt if you were thinking long term. Those games were meaningless.

  9. I know I'm fed up. I'm tired of watching a team who makes the same mistakes over and over again without fixing them. I don't like watching a team who's effort level does not seem to be enough.

  10. Expecting yzerman to do anything is such a fools endeavor. The guys a complete joke. Year 7… hes not trading any assets. Hes going to ride this shit team right to another 12th overall pick. If we're lucky enough he won't attach our 2027 1st to edvinsson in a package for future considerations

  11. the Red Wings are 5-0 this year in regulation (5-0-1 overall) when Kane plays and Hamonic doesn't. and the only loss was that OT loss to Buffalo where they blew like a 3 goal lead out of nowhere in the 3rd period.

of course Todd used that as an excuse to play Hamonic again. and here we are.

  12. Pat Verbeek became Ducks GM in 2022 and they are already top team in the league. Seems like we kept the wrong guy.

  13. Same story jst a different season. They are terrible and weak way more often than they are good. Trade Mo!

  14. While I agree you try to get a guy like Quinn, there needs to be some sort of agreement with him extending. Not worth trading all futures for 2 year blip.

  15. rebuilds moving forward perfectly , slow but sure is how you rebuild the worst 50 man depth chart in nhl as there are no short cuts to building a long term contender which obviously is what redwings are doing . credit to mrs ilitich n chris for giving yzerman all the time he wants to rebuild the long lasting way

  16. Why the emotional attachment to Larkin? Why can't he be traded? Other teams have let go of good players? He's not even a star. Honestly this rebuild will have to restart by trading what you can. Keep Mo, Raymond , Ed for sure. This approach will ensure a middling team for years

  17. Talk about the team needing more fight, why not bring Shine up for another run? At least from what we saw of him last year he’s got more consistent play than Hamonic, and if you need someone to stir something up or knock someone down, he’s your man.

  18. Marco Kasper’s drop off this year has been disastrous. Maybe Danielson can step in there possibly. Gotta get the bottom six producing offensively. Kyrou would at least be a guy that can produce. Rasmussen, Soderblom, Compher, Copp, and Berggren are not it. Need guys that aren’t completely devoid of offense. I would bring Buchelnikov next year and let him adjust due to the offensive upside. Gotta get some offensive threats throughout the lineup so you don’t just match up against the first line.

  19. The Red Wings might be the most unlikable team in the league. How are we still talking about effort at this point? Why do the fans care more than the players? What a group of pompous, effortless assholes.

  20. 23 games, one goal for.copp. hes a minus fucking 9. Why the fuck is he in the lineup? We got guys rolling in grand rapids yzerman could call up. Talbot has only faced 336 shots in 14 games started. That means hes facing near league low in 24 shots against a game. That means hes barely getting work so he shouldn't be struggling this bad. He just sucks. Thats why we have sucked for 10 years. We havent had one starter quality goalie. Gibson is beat up. Talbot just sucks. He gives alot of goalies from.long distance. His foot work.is awful and he has a horrible glove hand

  21. Seems like the team is indifferent to losing. Good teams, good players, and teams with good culture hate to lose. We lose a game like that and we get the "aww shucks, maybe next time" routine.

Todd is the only one on that bench that seems to care.

  22. Today's episode "the tale of talking out two assholes." Bring up the rookies; oh but this isn't good culture for them. This team is still bad; oh but we are first in the Atlantic. I won't discredit that things are bad but for fuck sake pick a side guys. You're so damn old and tired you can't even remember what happened in some of those games properly. People want to sign a bunch of goons to the bottom 6 and it couldn't be much worse but you aren't getting any better either.

  23. As of now they're playing at a 92-94 point pace which says no playoffs. Something's gotta give, and soon.

  24. Put Kasper back on the 1st line wing get him going again. Danielson at 2c and move Kane down a line. Or bring Kasper back to 2C and see how the 3 regain chemistry as they should have been given and not throwing Kasper to the media after Kane played one game with a few different wingers in Kanes place.

  25. Four notes:

    1. On TV, the jerseys hanging on the walls in your studio look too orange – a washed-out version of their classic red. They’re not the Detroit Orange Wings – they’re the Detroit Red Wings. Please hang the classic Red Wing jerseys up. Those centennial jerseys look awful. They should be burned, buried, and forgotten – preferably in that order.

    2. Also, on a recent podcast you spent an absurd amount of airtime talking to the designers of the centennial jerseys and how they came up with that unworthy, unaesthetic costume. The classic red jersey along with the classic Winged Wheel design is perfect. Not only is the original Winged Wheel the best logo in hockey, but it’s the best logo in all of sports worldwide. It’s the one Zetterberg and Datsyuk wore. The one Linstrom, Yzerman, and Federov swaggered. And it’s the one Howe, Delvecchio, and Lindsey initially made famous. So, please stop trying to reinvent the wheel – especially when it’s the Winged Wheel.

    3. Also, never under any circumstances, should the classic Winged Wheel logo be obscured, camouflage, or vandalized with “Hockeytown” or any other wordmark slapped across it. That’s not branding – that’s desecration.

    4. Finally, that insufferable mess at center ice at Little Caesar’s – the centennial design – looks as if the Zamboni ran over some garbage and ironed it into the ice. On TV that design looks like a mosaic of sludge. Ugly – with a capital Ug!

  26. Yzerman will never go for a big trade. Everything is too expensive for him.

  27. I like Todd a lot. I feel like he is bringing in… bringing back a winning mentality and culture. That said though, I find myself watching interviews just hoping to find him stand up for the team. I mean, I love that he calls shit out and seems to know what he wants in the team. That said, I feel like the coach publicly standing up for the team on certain things could do wonders. Datsyuk made a comment about how this team could be in the finals. Most people don't believe that but what he was doing, I feel is get the confidence ball rolling because he knows that someone needs to believe in this team for them to succeed. I feel like this team needs an assistant coach or locker room presence that gives this team some real heart. Not just robot level "do your job. You are good at job".

  28. Can’t believe that no one says anything about Seider. seriously what does it bring to the table besides giving the puck up not playing any defense and everybody like acts like he’s the second coming of the and he’s gonna be in the NHL Hall of Fame bad enough is a captain ever watches interviews does he ever take responsibility for anything no never has and never will all he does is heat up minutes on the ice that’s it and who are these three guys not one of them looks like they put on skates anyways if this team had as much desire and drive as Todd, has, they be OK but you know what either got the make up or you don’t you just don’t invent it. It’s there or it isn’t

  29. We can trade for whoever we like but if the culture and winning mentality isn’t there it won’t make a jot of difference. I like Todd as a coach but often he seems to be the only one that gives a damn. I keep coming back to locker room. Sure, everyone has bad nights but the bar needs to be set a lot higher by our captain. It’s not just about leading by example in scoring, goals, etc. Someone that’s not Todd needs to have some balls – say what you like, but that fact that results like Nashville are even predictable is not a good look. The booing at home games. Does anyone even have any pride?
