I'm sure they'll have a good run again, but if they wait until January to get things going it will be too late. We have similar problems to last season, but I'm more optimistic they can turn it around than last season.
We either should have been horribly bad for longer and got more early picks or really went all in at a couple deadlines/free agents the last couple years and put it together. I do think Yzerman has made some really good draft selections and he is slowly putting it together but I just don’t like this “middle of the pack” crap we have been doing for the last 3-4 years.. I will never understand some of these contracts he has signed these older guys to. I get that they are supposed to hold a spot til our home grown talent makes a step but it’s made us too competitive when we are trying to rebuild but not good enough to make it in the postseason. Even if we squeak into a playoff spot we will be crushed first round. This team as it stands doesn’t have the mental fortitude for the playoffs
The Wings are just a bad hockey team, constructed by a bad GM, and managed by an average coach. Full stop! So, you continue to watch this for the next few years, because Yzerman is not going anywhere, or you turn it off and go do something enjoyable with your 8 to 12 extra hours a week that you're not spending watching these losers.

Brian, I absolutely agree with you on the passing problem. I don't know who instructed Lucas Raymond to assist rather than score, but that was wrong direction. Compared to how he used to play, you can plainly see that he's just passing too much today.
Seider getting beat up, and no one to push back is disappointing.
Our D still makes way too many mistakes, goaltending isn’t good enough to make up for it, and our 2C has 3 points 1/4 into the season.
The bottom line is that they aren't fun to watch. Take Florida and Colorado for example, they play very different games. One team is all about checking and the other is all about not hitting very much and taking away passing lanes. There are many ways to do it, but this team does none of it.

I never paid attention to Gibson in Anaheim. But man he just doesn’t seem to have it anymore. I don’t know if i feel sorry for him or for the Wings for singing him. And Cam is wonderful in small spurts. Not in a high work load. Hopefully the Wings can turn something around

After Debrincat Larkin and Raymond there's virtually no scoring down the lineup.
Kasper has been awful Kane is struggling. Copp is nowhere. Compher overall has been a disappointment but has shown a little life lately.
Finnie has 12 points and by any measure has exceeded expectations so far.
As a group the others have been terrible
I was at the game on Friday vs. Tampa. They looked incredibly discombobulated, whereas Tampa looked like a well oiled machine. I hate saying this, but Seider looked like he forgot how to play and Johannsen played like he was playing pond hockey. Raymond needs to shoot more and the entire team needs to stop passing so much, especially on special teams. I want to be optimistic moving forward, but this current lineup makes it hard for me to be so; especially when you don’t know which version of them you’re going to get game by game. As far as goal-tending – Gibson is a C- at best and Talbot is somewhere between a B+/A-.
If only Simon and Elmer would throw that size around!! Holy shit, they’d destroy guys but they don’t!!! I’m also fing tired of other players taking shots at Raymond ….someone on this team needs to send a message, and soon

Detroit lost the Boston game because they got bullied. That's the issue. They have no answer for when Seider got dummied in a fight he shouldn't have had to take and nobody responded when ASP almost got killed by Jeannout. That demoralizes a room
This team did not look invincible during that five-game winning streak. Come on. I don't know what this style is that you guys think they're playing, but they aren't playing in a way that's overly impressive or dominant. I honestly don't think they are that close to how McLellan wants them to play.

The Redwings are Locked On Losing. Same team, Every year. Are they in need of personnel changes and upgrades. Which only means Yzerman does nothing.
How was this team designed? Strong offense? Strong defense? Skating speed? Physical strength? Consistent goal-tending? Win now? Develop draft? Which of these does the team posess? Waiting many years to find out!

The Wings are suffering the curse of the Locked on Podcast. In the past whenever the Wings look like they will probably make the playoffs they have a podcast talking about playoffs and the team tanks. This year they have a podcast about being in first and now the team starts to tank. It’s all Scotty and Brian’s fault for the team going down the crapper!
