Both Todd's favorites are choking the life out of the team whenever they're out there. Hamonic and Finnie.
He finally moved Finnie to another line for a shift late, hopefully a sign of him pulling the plug on that at long last. Hamonic can't play. There's nowhere to hide him. No amount of time you can safely play him. And this coach isn't even doing that, he's giving him d-zone draws w the Kane line vs Connor McDavid. Insanity. Gustafsson over Hamonic 1000x out of 1000x if someone is out. Or, I dunno, Yzerman could maybe wake up and do his job and acquire another dman?
McDavid was allowed to skate around like a Sunday bake off. We hit knowbody in our D zone. I don't ever want to see #48 on the ice ever again. We never took the body.
They got out hit badly again and Hamonic is not an NHL defenceman of any kind. Send him where he belongs. The top line needs a left winger because Finnie isn’t it. He’s constantly turning the puck over. He should be lower in the lineup. People think Hughes is going to take this team to the promised land without addressing the other issues on this roster are delusional.
i almost want sherwood more than hughes at this point. team is too soft. ras and elmer need to be stop larping as larkin type forwards and start hitting people with their 8 foot tall frames. it’s getting absurd

Every time I think Detroit has found their footing, they break my heart. I just wish they were better. It's just a bunch of forwards, we need some big guys to rough up teams. We aren't a very physical team
2 metrics the wings seem to almost be worse at every game, even in wins, is hits and giveaways, add to that there seems to be an inability for some players to physically engage, which doesn't show up as a metric and it usually spells a loss. Theyve gotten away with losing on the giveaways all year long, that can't continue, also the eye test is yhe poke and hope battle, though most teams seem to be doing this, probably out of a fesr of getting called for hitting too hard, and that spells a big problem. However ive seen soda be much more aggressive and engaged through this trip before this game, so i think they can improve this. The giveaway problem is not going away u til they become more concern3d with getting the puck out of the zone before they try to make a fancy pass. And yes hamonic is trash, not sure if gustaffson would be better as he hasnt played this year and he has little to no physicality to his game. If hamonic actually hit guys he might be worth something but hes just too slow on every decision he makes.
I see Rasmussen is back to his old self and not checking again. When Rasmussen plays soft it sticks out like a sore thumb.
