I'll say it again – watching this current team is like being punched in the face over and over again, with your hands stuck in your pockets. Totally agree Ace – this core is never gonna get it done. We don't need reinforcements – we need fundamental change. I worry that Fitz has 2 plans though 1) wait for Jack to get back, 2) sign Quinn. I love the Devils, but watching this current team is hurting my brain 🙃
We are really going to let one of the worst GM’s continue to make moves and make this team worse. He needs to be fired now we cannot let him panic move for Quinn Hughes
Goaltending cost us that game, but I won't be blaming Allen for all he's done to help the team this year
I think we need to start looking for a new number one goalie before we get anything else. That should be our number one priority right now.
Fitz has to go. No more excuses. He not only sucks at drafting, can't make changes on the go and he can't identify real players. Not only did he drop the ball with Wedgewood, Blackwood and Schmid. He also refused to go for Askarov, Thompson or Spencer Knight, all goaltenders that are thriving now. Everybody knew they were goalies ready to explode on the scene yet Fitz had to go and get Markstrom. A proven wildcard goalie that is streaky at best. Fitz refuses to address this teams glaring weakness and when he does try he just signs a phletora of random guys in hopes that somebody works out. He also stripped this team of its identity, made them older and slower. And this losing mentality has clearly affected this teams core. Just look at their body language. Nico especially, you can just tell he is sick of all the bullshit and I don't see him signing here in 2 years. Time for a clean sweep, these guys are Jack Hughes merchants and it shows. At this rate they are going for a top 10 draft pick and even if they do, Fitzgerald will find a way to go off the board and waste they pick too. I liked him in the beginning but he clearly isn't the guy to guide this team to the promised land.
Horrific game. Goaltending was terrible but even worse th3 defense was putrid no support . Tampa had a ton of open ice our defense is tragic right now just no other words for this one. Anytime we scored they immediately scored. Turning page from this game. 5 straight losses at home. This weekend now vital games day games vs Ducks and Canucks we need to show up seriously.
Anaheim smoked us out there we need to show up at home and get some revenge. Our special teams is horrendus penalty kill is killing us no pressure on shooters and tons of open time when you have skill of tampa offense you need to have better sticks and pressure not tonight
Anaheim and vancouver games huge for us we have to break this streak on home ice its really bad but we dont in any way look competent right now.. right now this can go 1 of 2 ways nobody is going to feel sorry for us. Islanders keep winning they have injuries and beat up the ducks can we do anything similiar??

There is so much potential for us but we need an injection of energy and fitz needs to make a move. Will ownership do anything I dont see it happening. Love the team but upper management is horrific

At alot of times in this game it felt like it was nhl team vs all team they were toying with us.
In my opinion I just dont see fitz going anywhere hope im wrong will he ever do anything or just doesn't know how or what to do..
Im always going to believe in this team and will support always as a diehard but its brutal to see this product..
And whats crazy is we have the talent to turn this around but no support i really feel bad for keefe stuck with this..

Ace if am right there with you so furious I'll be one of those guys that goes down with the ship but all we can do is hope we see 👀 something for the positive as we move forward but in no way optimistic or do I believe it until we see it.

Im not a trevor zegras fan at all but a guy that had some early success in anaheim and what does scumadelphia do bring him to Philly and hes helping them. Although happy we dont have him but its the point im trying to make..but stress I fear we are stuck with tom fitzgerald prove us wrong management

In regard to the core, include Nico in the conversation. My opinion is that the fan base has always overrated him and his leadership is suspect. It continually happens on his watch as the captain.

Ace, i fell in love with this team in 94 as a 9 year old boy in Toronto. I’ve got the 95 champ hat (my fav hat ever) and have made numerous trips to NJ to support. I cant tell you enough how much I hate how this team plays hockey. Keefe summarized it perfectly in his post game – no emotion, no compete and no consistency. Unfortunately you can’t teach those qualities. I’m not convinced this iteration of the devils no matter trades or injures will ever win with this core. It needs to be broken up.
Signing Markstrom to a panic extension was the same panic Palat signing after he was left hanging by Johnny and with free agents. Fitz is terrible. Markstrom will be bought out

I'll say it again: we just need to stay afloat until Jack and Pesce get back. I think we can.
The league is filled with average and above-average teams. No one is going to run away with anything.
Better for Jack and Pesce to be injured now than in fing March or April.

This organization had good goalie prospects in its pipeline to give a 35 year old goalie an extension was insane. Having 2 goalies on the roster over 35 is only justified if the team is a cup contender, like a Florida for example. To have both aging goalies is negligence. There is no plan, all this organization does is throw darts at a wall and hope for a positive outcome. Nothing will change, this is a much bigger problem than Fitzgerald. You can choose to keep wasting your Time and money. I have turned out the lights and walked away. There is no price for my Time , can't keep wasting it. Appreciate your efforts to talk about the history of a once great organization.
I couldn’t bring myself to tune in last night because I’ve had it with the Devils and comments during the game. I can’t even watch your video this morning after seeing your face. The only consolation is that we scored four goals. It’s unbelievable that this is basically the same team we saw at the start of the season. It’ll be great to see Jack and Pesce back on the ice eventually, but I’m resetting my mindset and expectations for the rest of the season: we’re a losing team, and any win will be a pleasant surprise. That way, at least I won’t be depressed on a regular basis. On the bright side, I’ll save some money this winter by not going to The Rock. There’s no way I’m dropping at least $200 on tickets, parking, food, and drinks just to watch 90% of a non-capacity crowd boo their own team and leave after the second period. I love this team, but they are completely broken right now. I’ll be watching from home, always hoping they’ll find their way again.
