Nothing against Jarry, just think it's a lateral trade with the high contract. Personally I don't think Oilers are done. My concern is Pickard and it would not surprise me if we trade for a top Goalie and Jarry would share the duties. We still have the trade deadline etc. Who knows ??
I'm not mad at the trade. We don't know what goes on in the dressing room. The Oilers might be a little bit frustrated with Skinner. We don't know. It might be a refresh for them. And Jerry also
I have a hard time believing this trade was made without consulting McDavid and Draisaitl about it first. When you have those kinds of players on your team you want their input, especially when we have a 2 year window with McDavid to win the cup or he's going to be gone.
Finally, it has happened thank god. I am obviously EXCITED to see Tristan Jarry will be the new goaltender for the Edmonton Oilers. As the hockey world knew how DESPERATE the Oilers were for a new goaltender the Oilers had to give "something extra" to trade Skinner and had to also include the valuable Brett Kulak in the deal. Overall I think it is a "fair" trade for the the Oilers. One thing Tristan Jarry can expect from the Edmonton Oilers fans is that Edmonton is a hockey CRAZY city, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Tristan Jarry, we the Oilers fans WELCOME YOU TO THE EDMONTON OILERS and the City of CHAMPIONS. 🍁🇨🇦
Mcdavid will be sold for a boatload in 2 years. Oilers are far from done in net, on D and at forward to compete. Just look at the Av’s! Scary time. 2024 was the chance.
Glad the oilers finally did something. It seemed like oilers overpaid though and skinner was just starting to hit his stride this year. Should have asked for Crosby for a 1st and we’d be even.
Double the cost of your goaltending, get marginally better (or worse, as margins tends to function), sacrificing a long-time dependable defesenman who has been having a bit of a rough season, all the while, unburdening Pittsburgh of their god awful contract with this goalie who can barely stay healthy for anything.
So at the end of this season, Edmonton will have a $5.4M anchor of a contract for the next 3 years, and Pittsburgh will be free of not only Jarry, but Skinner and Kulak as well being they are UFAs, freeing up their options in the off-season. So, what did Edmonton get in return for taking this 🐕💩contract from Pittsburgh? Well, they got the privilege of giving away their 2029 2nd round draft pick. A draft pick that they will surely be wanting badly when 2029 comes around, given this team's age, and how highly likely it is that they will be strongly trending downward around that time.
The cherry on top being, that this idiotic management had claimed it would not make a "lateral move" in goal. Well comparing Jarry's and Skinner's career stats, I don't think it gets any more lateral than this. I mean, I don't think you could find two goalies in the entire NHL, that have career long stats, as close as these two.
I'm under the impression that Bowman let some twitch streamer playing NHL 26, call the shots on this deal, because I can't remember a deal that is this glaringly stupid, in the history of my following this team.
The Oilers got worse in every possible category: Cost, Reliability, Off-season Leverage, Playoff Experience, Age
Did this trade actually do anything good for this team?
Resume's…Skinner…YEAR 1—Calder Candidate, all-star Game , 2nd round playoffs. Year 2—Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals….Badly outplays Oettinger in WCF finals…YEAR 3 —Game 6 Stanley Cup finals. outplays Oettinger AGAIN…..Cap Hit $2.5 Million…Age 27…Jarry???….Age 30 Cap Hit Over $5 Million Career playoff stats…2–6…..Sav% .881……????????………Can anyone name ONE Stan Bowman player move that actually improved the team?

I don’t know how to feel about it yet

Quoting the esteemed Richard Nixon: The hockey media & Oil fans don't have Skinner 2 kick around anymore!!
Who is the duster and why ?

Definitely not a game changer of a trade 😊
I think our goaltending might be slightly better, but until Wahlman comes back at least, our defense is worse.
Rumour has it they been poking around Alex Lyon. Maybe a Pickard for Lyon trade.
New mic not working great

Peppa pig? Never took you for a fan!

Horrible trade. Bowman is a disaster
This will not end well. Jarry is not the solution.
Jarry will be the back up to the new goalie in the summer or part of a trade .
Could be another tactical error. New goalie may not solve much. Improving overall gameplay should be the priority.
Honestly i think it will have a huge impact imo because it just seemed that Oilers players lost confidence in Skinner.

all the good ,bad & the ugly is getting revealed, #18 Z Hyman hattie !Stu gone,it's gotta get better
It was time for a change in net but they should fire the new defense coach for sure.
