Most talented player in franchise history. Enjoy him Minnesota. Cup contender for sure now.
I don't Think Hughs makes the Wild a Cup contender. Not enough depth scoring, some of which just got traded away; and Hughs is not exactly going to make up for it. Besides, still have to get through the Ducks, Av's, and stars. Then you have to get through the best of the East to win it. And any one of the east coast teams are better than 7 out of every 10 western conference teams. Vancouver screwed Hughs over by not trading him to a Eastern conference team and there's about a 10% chance he stays.
Wold told zeev to go fuck himself
I wish they could have found a way to keep Zeev but Hughes is a superstar in his own right.
Wild are feeling themselves and going all in. I like it.
If Wild doesn't sign Hughes long term, giving up Buium is going to turn out to be a HUUUUUGE mistake. Buium is amazing!
40 year old Canuck fan here. Remember listening on the radio (a real radio) the Wild beating us in round 2 in 2003. Once again, the Wild best us. I know you loved your players you lost but you get not an elite but a Generational defenseman, for sure #2 in the league, and it's just a fluke Cale Makar exists in the same generation or else you'd have the best defenseman of this generation. And…If he doesn't work out? You trade him for a haul next year. Win, win, and win.
I’m a Vancouver hockey fan, and it’s so sad that Hughes got traded to Minnesota. Because of that, I’m a Minnesota Wild fan now—but Vancouver is still my official team. So now I have two teams to watch. Good luck!
Minnesota is so weak down the middle that getting rid of center depth without getting anything back at that position is VERY concerning. Billy better get some kind of center help coming in or I hate this move. Buium was… I think he'll be a stud. It's sad to see him go. Love Hughes, but I'd really be surprised if he didn't bolt for New Jersey after '27. I think the Wild could be looking back at this and regretting it.
We’ve been waiting for Wild to take a big swing and they did. I liked Rossi and Zeev but you got to take a chance!
Hope he signs for you guys, good luck
Lfg. Insane this was actually pulled off. Buium is the only piece that stings going out but Quinn Hughes is already everything you could have only hoped Buium could ever become. They must have alot of faith in Yurov to send Rossi, I agree w you Seth.
better hope so cause hes going to new jersey next year
This trade is a top shelf Gatorade bottle goes flying winner for the Wild. I like Buium, sneaky "good enough" gonna have a long career. Rossi, sorry barely noticed him, not a top 6 Center for a serious Contender team. Ohgren has a chance but has shown nothing.
I do this deal 10 out of 10 times if I'm Wild. Quinn Hughes is a superstar, there's 12-15 of those in the League and now we might just have 3 (Boldy)
Well-to Hughes’ credit-he didnt do a Marner.
In all their misery Vancouver did get a return, arguably a good one at that. So cudos to Allvin&Rutherford for that. And congrats to my hard rivals Wild as a Pred. Also a sad salute to the passionate Vancouver fans who do not deserve this. I have to say it – I have absolutely no faith in the Aquilinis. Vancouver have all the economic potential in the world as a region. And yet they continue to be the league’s enigma. Why are they not a powerhouse-WHY? Tocchet couldnt leave fast enough, the EP40-Miller feud, now this. A franchise player, arguably the best Knucks ever have had, decides to throw in the towel. There is smth toxic with the present version of Canucks, there is no other way to say it. And there is plenty of sample size now to put this first and foremost on the ownership. The useless, clueless meddling kind of ownership a la Woody and NY Jets. I am sorry, but I see no future as long as those Aquilinis are at the wheel
Another thing…Quinn and the Hughes family are a "Lake Home" kinda people. Is there any doubt he'll re-sign, c'mon.
This year just got super charged and MAN IS IT GOING TO BE FUN. He will resign – not worried about it. If he doesnt they get a huge return. Hes gonna love mn
Enjoy watching Quinn from a Canucks fan. I may even now watch the Wild especially in the playoffs
When I saw "Wild get Hughes in trade" alert on my phone I figured Vancouver must have a second Hughes because there's no way they'd trade Quinn to us. I'm beyond stoked. Even if we only get him for 2 years, worth it. You have to do this trade if it's on the table. I like Rossi but he's hot and cold, often injured and probably not good enough if you're a legit contender. Same with the prospects traded. The Wild were good before this trade but not good enough to win the cup and if we're not trying to win the cup then why'd we resign Kaprisov? You gotta put your chips on the table and play if you wanna win.
It would be nice if the Central could stop getting stronger and stronger. Love, an Avs fan. LOL
Wild fans: Hughes is the kind of player that, when you watch live in stadium, he has your full attention. He embarrasses defenders with his skating and puck handling and has a sneaky good shot. He also makes the Wild more attractive to other available players who want to win now.
This is only worth it if he resigns. I hope to god that guerin was able to work out some agreement with him or canucks ahead of time. If they are going all in now, should probably just go after a top six center now.
No matter what, Vancouver was going to lose this trade. Having said that, this feels underwhelming. Rossi is a #2 and Buium, while promising, is likely topping out as a top 4. Then you have a late 1st and another guy who looks like a middle six. I mean…fucking ew.
Even if Hughes leaves in a year and a half, the Wild wins this trade.
Still got to get past Colorado and Dallas in playoffs we will see….
Good move bc either he extends or they get one playoff run & flip him next season & he turns into a one year rental. Go big or go home!
Imagine if BG has more up his sleeve and swings a deal with NJ for Jack and Luke, no idea what they would have to give up, but that would be insane!
My guess is they swing a deal for a rental center in the top six. Not ideal…would rather we get a guy that will stay long term, doesn’t cost more than 7-8 million AAV, doesn’t mortgage our entire future assets, has some size and finesse, and is a top six center. I know I’m shooting for the moon here. Maybe they can dump Tarasenko for a winger needy team and give them a prospect or two.
I'll be up front…I'm an Avs fan, so go ahead and hate…joking. I think the Wild hit a home run on this trade, even if he doesn't stay after next year. It's just too bad the best 3 teams in the league are all in the same division. It'll be fun to watch the carnage as they all battle in the first two rounds. Enjoy the entertainment you'll get from Hughes!
A lot of new fans cheering for the Wild from Canada's west coast. Good luck
Krill will now be a 120 point guy.
Reminds me of the Hershel Walker trade… Mike Lynn and Guerin lost their minds. They are an injury away from losing everything.
I'm okay with Rossi and Ohgren. I don't like Buium or the draft pick. IF (stressed) we can extend Hughes then maybe. Get him into Minnesota and let hin see what kind of locker roonm they have. then maybe get his brother to Minnesota. WIN NOW!!!
I just watched The Hockey Guys reaction. Poor guy should, probably, be on some kind of… supervision…for a day or two. I love that guy. I love the fact that a minnesota team actually is trying. Weather or not it works out.
This feels like.. we're the Lakers when they traded for Luka from Dallas which is the Canucks in this trade.
Canucks fan here. Definitely sad to see Quinn go. You guys are going to love him. Absolute class act and a total ankle breaker on the ice. Hoping our trade haul pays off in the long term and yours pays off in the short term.
The Wild are guaranteeing themselves a foreseeable future of one-round and-done seasons.
I was a season ticket holder for the Vancouver Canucks for 26 years. I gave up my tickets when we moved. Quinn Hughes is a great player, in fact the best I've seen since Bure (Bure was better). This trade will be a Win for Vancouver if Zeev pans out at 85% of what Quinn Hughes produced. I fear for the wild, yes they got Quinn, but they in a way are in the same situation as Vancouver was with Center depth, we got to the second round, JT gone, no center depth, down hill. If Zeev and Rossi can fill that gap, Vancouver could rebound I just hope it not this year, we need a top 5 pick. Who's filling the center role for the Wild? I'll be watching this, I think Jim R pulled off a fast one and we'll see that come true in the next 24 months, Van may prove to be the draft winner. 🏒
As a Quinn Hughes fan, I'm excited to see him play on a good team! Consider me officially a wild fan!
Canucks fan…. Enjoy watching this guy Wild fans!
I'm official Vancouver fan now…will win the Stanley cup with Rossi and Buuim 🎉
Should of tried to off load jirick over buium
Was Rossi, Ohgren, and our 2026 first round pick a reasonable price to pay for upgrading to Hughes over Buium? We're still not a cup contender. Interesting that Guerin throws away a good chunk of Brackett's work and the organization's investment in player development, in favor of "his guys". This will be a defining moment in GM BG's tenure as Wild GM.
Come back home Quin in year n half 🏒 that be wild 😜 Canucks Aaahuh
A Minnesota fan. It is very possible that this deal will make both teams significantly stronger than they were before it. It's a pity they gave away a promising Buium. Spurgeon and Bogosian are 36 years old – who will replace them in three seasons?
If Hughes doesn't re-sign this trade becomes a disaster for the Wild. I'm sorry, I just haven't been convinced by any of the counterpoints I've heard so far.
This is crazy by Minnesota! It’s quite the HAUL for a RENTAL and the timing is terrible. Ya gotta compete with peak Colorado that has Makar+MacKinnon & Heiskanen+Rantanen in the same division, then they have to get through Vegas, lol, this is insane by Guerin. The Canucks absolutely robbed the Wild and just watch Quinn get injured at or after the Olympics…the Canucks sensed an injury coming, hence why they dealt him asap and especially before the Olympics
The Wild are still at least a piece if not two away from contention…
