I am happy for the fresh start. What we had in previous seasons when Skinner would lay an egg, was that our offence can be relied on to bail themselves out. This season we scored our way to make an exciting third period, possibly overtime but we haven’t had the ability to consistently pull together enough for a win after a rough Skinner start.
Fans can be crazy, dude. You even have Wild fans freaking out thinking they overpaid for Quinn Hughes. That’s 26 year old, prime, Norris-winning, #1 franchise defenseman Quinn Hughes. I don’t think it’s possible to overpay for a player like that. Now, if you can’t re-sign him you can still flip him for something. Probably from New Jersey lol. But, still, be happy you have Quinn Hughes lol.
How much of kulaks struggles stem from the changes in coaching?

Jarry has been good when good. And bad when bad. And injury-prone. On balance better than Skinner? When playing – probably.
But all-in are these moves good – improving – getting the oil a cup?
Doubtful. They don’t make this roster better than last year.

A team can win with any goalie if they get hot at the right time and the team in front of them is good enough.
I completely agree with you 100%. I do not understand what the fans and media are talking about. They drove this man out of town and if they thought the Oilers were going to get a top goalie, give your head a shake. Every team in the NHL wants a top goalie. As for Kulak he’s 31 and a UFA after this season time to get younger if you want to stay ahead of the game. The one thing the Jarry will give the Oilers that Skinner could not is his stick handling ability. Looking forward to that alone we have not had that since Smith played here.

Very good speech, glad you called that out, Skinner as a person was a hell of a nice guy but, his time was up in Edmonton. I believe the decision was better for Skinner and also for the Oilers, wish the best for both.

The Oilers’ biggest weakness isn’t Skinner or Pickard, it’s the 10.5 million defenseman, Bouchard, and the damage he does in his own zone. And if we’re being honest, moving on from Kane and Perry also took away the exact kind of edge this team needs when games get heavy.
Every year the Edmonton fans resemble Toronto fans more and more. If it keeps up I'm going to have to stop watching hockey altogether just to spare myself the cringe.

Jarry has never won a playoff series. He played in the AHL last due to his lackluster performances.

It's good to see someone calling for fans to CHILL THE F. OUT. These fans are reason players always leave Canadian teams. Nobody wants to put up with that crap, the pressure, when you can just go to the US be forgotten and win cups.
I hated the deal at first, but after looking at the numbers, the data, the analytics, its actually a decent move. Stu will get 6.5 mil + starting next year, this is just the market right now. Kulak would mostly go for 4.5 mil +. That's just what the market is for these 2 guys. Getting Jarry locker a 5.2 for another 2 years and a new D man for less than a mil. Also, Jarry is elite when it comes to stopping high risk shots on goalie. 8th in the league vs Stu's 50th. On other metrics, Jarry is a 10% improvement on Skinner. So from a GM perspective, this is a good move. You've locked in a goalie for a cheap price (according to market metrics, not what the average facebook turd think is a good price)
Edmonton Oilers fans are idiots. Every single metric, Jarry is better. His high danger save % leads the league. People keep pointing out "Jarry was on waivers". He was on waivers with a .893 S% on a shit team while Skinner rocked a .896 S% on an elite team.
What Dubnyk did? He ended up playing on an elite defensive team and put up a good save percentage. Skinner played on an elite defensive team and shit the bed. Dubnyk, though he had a good save %- his goals saved above expected we below average
You could have a 4×6 sheet of plywood in goal for the Oilers and it's giving up 4-5 goals a game behind Bouchard and Nurse and the rest of the AHL level defense. You're delusional if you think that Spencer Stastney is going to plug the holes in that back end. Terribly constructed team with the worst defensive lineup in the NHL. Fix that and you might have a chance.
