  1. I like the direction this team is headed. Maybe not this season but they have some good pieces for the future. Some decisions have to be made at the end of the season. I think respectfully Letang needs to hang them up along with cutting some other dead weight

  2. Love the take on Koivunen but I have a genuine question: Why are we so against getting a lottery pick? While Kindel appears to be an absolute gem, we still lack that blue-chip, sure thing defensive prospect and we could use a little more center depth. Once Crosby and Malkin retire you have Kindel and who? Getting a McKenna, Stenberg, Verhoeff, or a Lawrence changes everything. That gives you Kindel, McGroarty, Horcoff, Koivunen if he finds his game, Hallander, and potentially guys like Broz, Zonnon, Howe, Ilyin with defensive guys Pickering, Brunicke and then you can throw one of those aforementioned top prospects up as a young core to build around with Murashov/Blomqvist backstopping (I know other prospects are performing well in their respective leagues but as it stands they seem most likely to be successful NHL players). Dubas could unload Mantha and Braz at the deadline and even a Rakell/Rust and get a first + a couple seconds or decent prospects. That gives you absurd draft capital and if you just nail a couple of the crazy number of high value picks in the '26 draft and you're well on your way to being a team like the Sharks/Ducks/Mammoth. When you have all your firsts + 9 second round picks in the next four drafts, you can truly build an entire youth core with that and it lets some of them get experience under Crosby. I just don't see how anyone can see this team beating the Avs/Stars/Oilers/Canes/etc in a best of seven series. I care more about long-term success than trying to sneak into the playoffs to potentially win a single round.

  3. Enjoy the confidence vacuum that is Stuart Skinner. For the life of him, the man can not make the saves he needs to make. He’s slow, awkward, and doesn’t have the hockey IQ to contribute meaningfully to bolstering defence. Stu is incapable of saving games. He’s such a coin flip. He can shut out the best teams in the league one game, and be a sieve against even the most disorganized competition the next. He is what he is. And I’m sorry you had to be stuck with him. He will deflate that locker room.

  4. Invite Skinner to all your parties, great guy, but in professional sports, no cup with drinking buddies, in the nhl😂

  5. A good team overcomes adversity and finds a way. They can't wait around for somebody to do something. The 4 min pp was the same old problem, set up and wait for the perfect shot to fail. Quick strikes get the teams and goalies in a bad position. No trades will change this. You play with what you got. It was good enough before, it's good enough now. The flame needs turned up under their butts.

  6. Hey DK, I am up in the arctic working, my job is watching out for polar bears….and for those that don’t know, there are no penguins up here. But every other day I make sure to stream the Pittsburgh Penguins for my entertainment. Instead I have not been entertained I have been aggravated to the point I don’t want to tune into every game. It’s becoming predictable, my comment yesterday says it all, I figured on 7 goals against, figured both 97 and 29 to get five points each, so I was off…..the oilers had an easy time with the Penguins , and who cares about the late goals, let’s stop making excuses for this team, enough is enough. Line one 5 on 5 is compromised by one guy and doesn’t match up, you figure out who I am talking about. The defense is compromised by many things but one guy nightly struggles more than most, you can guess! The goal tending hasn’t been going well, but it’s a ripple effect, the team is horrendous in their own zone. But…..hey they have Danton Heinen out there, he’s been a difference maker, last night that late goal will probably get him going so he can finish up with 2! It’s the same players, same line ups, it’s time for Dubas to chop some heads, because where I sit, even when this team is going good, is a forty minute team, they chase the game frantically for the other twenty. They lack serious depth, serious skill, serious finish….and that includes some in top six. This team is not playoff bound.

  7. These Pens remind me of my little league team. [Shout-out to Espe Chiropractors of East Jackson Township] Lost every game our first year because we couldn't get out of the 3rd inning. You couldn't explain it. If there was a hit surrendered or an error committed, it came in third…in droves. The next season we won the championship, but that first season we couldn't get out of our own heads, let alone last place. The youth is pushing for the vets. The vets are pushing against time. The pressure is all self inflicted. Here's hoping they can dig out without needing an offseason to do it, which evidently doesn't help anyway. ❤️🔥🍻

  8. DK .. i watched a YouTube video that did a deep dive into the relationship between drafting and winning cups. The conclusion was that nearly every champion in history has needed either a #1 overall pick (most of them did) or multiple "lottery" picks. And basically it agreed with the tanking method. The Penguins need to sell assets and pick up draft picks. They need to lose as much as possible. Lemieux understood this calculus. He was apart of the rebuild. If Sid wants to stay then fine but if not then get some picks for him and move on. Same with Geno and Rackell and anyone else we have that has value.

Last night confirmed what i have been saying all along. They are SLOW unlike what DK claims. The Oilers skated circles around them. The Pens just dump and chase and clutch and grab and reach. They don't have the skills to compete. They rely on lucky bounces.

Oh and Jarry was never the issue. And neither is Skinner. This team simply sucks and has for years. Should have been rebuilding already. Enough is enough.

  9. Muse should be fired. He’s the worst coach in Pens history. Dubas should also get the foot. He’s built a team thats afraid to take the body. Going to be a long season unless Muse is fired.

  10. DK – I feel we need to address the elephant in the room: Sid has looked borderline disinterested as of late. Just not very engaged. Have you noticed this as well? Any insight? Maybe hiding an injury?

  11. It seems that almost every scenario has the Ravens week 18 game deciding the division. There is almost no scenario where that game is meaningless.

  12. Well, at least we have the trade deadline … where everyone will talk about how great Dubas is when he gets a 2042 3rd round pick for Mantha, while still deploying the worst blueline in professional hockey … and the draft to look forward to. But hey, if Dubas hits on another Kindel, they'll be even closer to being better next season … with a blueline that still deploys Letang, Karlsson and Graves. Good luck Murashov and Blomqvist!

  13. Another season of tuning this team out until the trade deadline and draft. Just a pathetic effort last night outside of… the second line? Again? I am really curious as to what is going on with Sid but apparently that is a no-no topic that you are not willing to touch. He has looked absolutely awful lately.

  14. Good stuff DK. Thanks. You keep saying that they’re right in the thick of things but pretty soon they will not be in the thick of anything if they keep up at their current pace. Just like the Steelers being ahead of the ravens by three games a couple of months ago.

  15. DK – The Graves/Clifton pairing has been quite effective for the Pens. I know it's just one game, but the Kulak/St.Ivany was an absolute sinkhole last night. To me you only put one of Kulak or St.Ivany in for their first game, not both. I get that Kulak needs to play if Dubas has any chance of flipping him, but what do you do here if you're Muse?

  16. Lots of stuff on my mind, DK, sorry for all the questions/thoughts… I think Muse needs to double-down on the youth movement. This team is missing some energy, some verve. Hayes, while he still plays a very smart veteran game is just far too slow and Heinen is as milquetoast as it gets. I would call up Broz and A.Hayes. What do you think?

  17. Thank you DK. They still have a chance to over come this downward slide. Just to many penalties and they came up short. They have been better than this. Awesome show DK.

  18. This team has fooled everyone with their hot start and their loser points, but 6 wins in our last twenty games paints a much bigger picture than just a six game losing streak. This team is cooked.
