Maybe the GM would have picked up someone you can pass the puck on the power play. Everyone thought Marner should go but get someone to replace him! Fire the GM!
Not going to help at all they should have fired the coach and traded Matthews and Nylander.

This is what you do when you need a shakeup, but don't want to admit you really screwed up hiring the coach and bringing in the wrong players. How Treliving got a job after the mess he left in Calgary is beyond me.

I think Savard is the scapegoat here but it's not a big surprise. The Leafs needed to do something, even if it only appears as if they're trying to fix things. Berube hasn't been there long enough to catch all of the blame and management is certainly not going to go after the top-line players. Therein sits the problem. The Leafs have too many egos on the team, and I've been saying this about Matthews for a couple of years now….he's only in this for himself and his stats. You can see it in his body language. I don't watch enough Leafs games to tell if other big-name players have the same approach but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. When you have too many egos on one team, a la MLB's San Diego Padres, you tend to have issues underneath the surface.
The entire coaching staff should be gone.
