1st round pick +… for Mc Weegar… If Calgary finally decides to sell 👍 🏒 💯 ⚔️
Merry Christmas guys, congrats on 100 episodes.
Biggest concern for me is Tuch, he’s clearly lost a step, he wants too much, but when the team is playing well hard to necessarily “get better” by trading him. You cannot lose him for free, best case i guess is that you trade him away for futures and then try to acquire someone else equally as good.
Merry Chirstmas, happy holidays, great show
With Chicago and Columbus fully in a tailspin, what are the chances Jarmo kicks the tires on Boone Jenner (yes, I agree with Matthew) or Nick Foligno? I also think they should do a blockbuster with CAL – Power, Quinn, prospect, and a 2nd for Rasmus Andersson and Blake Coleman.
What about a trade around Quinn + for Kiefer Sherwood? This team does need some bit still especially for someone playing with McLeod
Ryan McLeod as a specialist just makes me think of Mike Grier but fast.
Merry Christmas, Kris and Matthew!
For a RD, why not Tyler Myers?
Great game! Now the Sabres are beginning to win games that other top teams used to beat us. Their defensive-zone positional play is key to our victories. I love the work of the fourth line. Is there a stat that tracks penalties drawn by a line? The fourth line has definitely earned their share. Isn't it possible that Ostlund plays center and allows someone else to take the face-offs? When I played hockey, I was very good at taking draws but terrible at covering the responsibilities of the center position.
Enough of the Analytics garbage. They won 7 in a row. So what does expected goals really mean? Anyone with have a brain in their heads can poke holes in spreadsheets all day long.
Second game in a row where the 4th line won their matchup. Timely goaltending again too. Matthew mentioning that Dunne is a Jarmo kind of guy, let's not forget that Jarmo signed him as a UDFA coming out of Clarkson for Columbus.
Way to show up 👊🏼
You guys should for sure have a show theme song!
Top of my wishlist, and it's less obvious, but a veteran defenseman would be terrific. Dahlin leads the team with ~540 games played, next highest is a full 200+ below that.
Even when Timmins returns to health, the right side of defence is the area that concerns me. We could stand pat up front if necessary and still have cover, but we only have two right shot defenders of NHL standard in the organisation.
Happy Holidays, Baker/Fairburn. Thanks for the work.
To Kris' question: This team's most pressing need is a top 9 wing that helps drive play. As you noted, worst 5v5 expected goal share in the last 7 games does not inspire confidence even with the (amazing) winning streak.
Quinn is like Olafsson 2.0, great shot but soft on the walls and can disappear for games at a time. He needs to be moved. As for connor garland, I watched him for years in AZ. He is a more skilled version of Krebs. Small player, playing the pest role, always running his mouth
$566,965 that’s the cap space the cheap owner has right now! Pegula if he wanted to win would use that cap space to buy a new team star player from ECHL
Dunne started in Columbus under Jarmo, I believe. Biggest areas of need RD for Timmons and a Quinn upgrade. I'd love Garland or Rust. Perhaps Lilligren out of SJ could be a Metsa/Bryson upgrade on the bottom pair with Timmons out. Acquisition cost probably wouldn't be too bad.
This was a really enjoyable episode. Thanks for making my morning run less miserable. Congrats on 100.
I doubt very highly Sidney Crosby would appreciate Brian Rust being taken off of his team.
What impresses me is the level of compete, less giveaways and 4th line play, they are physical and tenacious of the forecheck. in fact they kept Ottawa's top line hemmed in their own zone and made them play defense.
Quinn can go immediately. Rosen can fill his slot.
If RD doesn't pan out with anyone, what about Radim Mrtka for the rest of the year after the World Juniors?
Gotta like our young players, thanks Kevin Adams for getting these guys! Folks trash Adams but he made some great deals and deserves some respect for that.
Happy Holidays boys. Great show.
Turned on this AM and immediately hit the like button. Merry Christmas Matt & Kris!!
Thanks for giving us a Christmas Eve pod.
🎄😎🙏
Love the show! That said, I think Coleman and Rust are "contender" adds in my opinion and shouldn't be targets for a fringe playoff team. I want someone who can give you 3 or 4 years of good play is I'm considering giving up a piece like Rosen. Agreed on Quinn, the least disruptive piece no move. Final thought: maybe Nick Blankenburg as RD insurance? He's small but he plays the right way and shouldn't cost an arm and a leg if Nashville is rebuilding. I thought of Perbix, but can't see the Preds moving him.
Leave Quinn alone, the guy has skill – give him some space to develop
I'd move Quinn as soon as I could. Addition by subtraction
Merry Xmas guys, great commentary as always. Let's go for 8!
Happy Holidays, guys! Hey Kris, how about a prospect ranking based on NHL potential. Let’s go with a top 10
Best Sabres Pod thats for sure!
The harder they work… the more "bounces" go their way.
What makes Benson a top line player?
You think sending Oslund down was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Adams?
Hyped . Thanks!
Thanks boys, awesome job. Happy Holidays!
Congrats on 100 shows guys! Adams getting rid of JBD was a dumb move . Shouldve kept him over Bryson! What about Komorov in Rochester, is he NHL ready yet? I like the Connor Murphy Chicago idea. Power to Calgary for Andersson isnt that a HUGE risk as he is UFA in July ? Definitely interested in moving Quinn . Regarding the 4th line when Danforth and Kozak come back doesnt that make the 4th line and spare forward crowded with Greenway Dunne Malenstyn and Krebs especially if theres still 3 goalies on the roster . Merry Christmas guys thanks for all your videos.
ostlund tools is something you cant teach, and not a lot of players has. if you think of players as assets, he can become a really valuable one.
I thought that last night Dunne had his best game since he was called up. He was tough of the puck, tough along the wall and hounded the Senators most every shift.
As for Tuch's penalty, in the locker room after the game when asked about it he said that from where the referee was who called it, it would have looked like a hook. Otherwise, you could kind of tell he thought it wasn't much of a penalty call.
Rainbows and jujubes! Oh, no…Tim Murray, i.e., GMTM…is in the building!
Quinn is contributing, but he's not contributing as an 8th overall pick given the relative strength of his draft class, although that draft was much better for defensemen than forwards. Other than his scoring potential because of his shot…he's almost useless. Not strong along the walls, often slow getting back on defense, doesn't contribute around the blue paint at either end of the rink and while at times he shows some playmaking ability he's more inclined to hold on to the puck too long in search of a shot instead of making a pass. Whatever line he's on, he often seems to drag it down to his level.
A defensive acquisition would be really really helpful. Keep up the great work guys. Have a safe holiday.
As always, great show you two. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the both of you.
Congratulations on 100! I agree on Quinn being most likely to go , but I might like Rosen and ostlund to keep instead, keep the cheap players who might be really good still.
Kekalainen needs to shop for a legitimate 7th defenceman.
