The play by Markstrom … holy cow.
It was bad enough he chose to surprise his own defensman by coming ALL the way out of his net at a completely random time in the game with a 1-0 lead.
When he saw Siegenthaler five feet in front of him, … maybe just leave the puck there and let Siegs play it? Maybe?
What kind of brainlock is required to then shoot the puck directly into Siegenthaler? You can literally see the moment where his preconceived plan to clear the puck didn't adjust to the reality of the situation right in front of him.
When they talk about poise and composure and situational awareness, like Brodeur had, this is what the opposite of that looks like.
If the Devils don’t do anything in the playoffs this season, I’m tapping out for a while. Harris & Fitzgerald don’t care about winning, why should I care about them?
The team was bought by these two soft geeks in 2013, and the rest is history.
1) owners are soft
2) GM is soft
3) coach is soft
4) players are soft
Unfortunately this is what it is and quite probably will not change until ownership does. As long as fans go and spend a shit ton of money at the rock they won’t sell. I for one am sick of listening to these sad faced babies of players and a coach who sucks air into the side of his mouth every postgame. I listened to Roy after wins and losses and what a noticeable difference. The guy is direct, slices right through to answer the questions and is clear as day on what he sees and feels. I am sure not one of his players is confused by expectations!
Ace I hope this channel and whatever other media you run does well for you but it will be a long time before the theme and message changes for the better.
In my honest opinion they do need a redo, not 1 or 2 players.
As you said everything is on the table. Jack comes back and nothing has changed. Therefore need to look at the leadership – Nico and Keefe. Nico not a real leader and maybe Keefe’s system is not putting this team in the best position to win. It’s been 2 years now. The system should put our skills guys in the best position to succeed.
What’s scary is the “Christmas break” is upon us.
At least last year we got good hockey up until this point.

There is a lineup of Glendenning, Noesen, Palat, Cotter, Lamikko…. that's basically 50% of the lineup. Of course their offense sucks

Ace, I told my son last night, as much as I like your truly Jersey commentary, I can’t watch it today after that awful ending last night. It’s like reading old texts from an ex rubbing salt in the wounds. I might need a trial separation from this team until things turn around. However, I’m here to give you a like and say this. I get the frustrations but remember Fitz did what he had to do to get Duggie here which included incentivizing a contract with no movement clauses. Jersey is a more desirable place with the players they have now. I still believe it will turn around this year. The “healthy players” are not 100%, and Jack can’t even take face offs yet. It will get better. I believe in this team and even in Fitz.

This team looks like they are just going through the motions. The effort and desire from the team I love is not there. I’m totally disgusted with their gutless performance. Not sure where we go from here, feels like rock bottom. Happy holidays Ace!
It's a lot of fun to suggest trades/acquisitions etc., but every idea/suggestion is irrelevant until we become cap compliant. We don't have any money! I'm guilty of it as well but until money has been freed up we are tied up.
Fitz is no longer the problem. The lack of his actions, to me proves the real issue is the ownership team. They have seen the last few years and have done nothing. I fear the ownership doesn't care as long as they make their ROI. It appears they only care about the cash.

I’m sorry, I’m grateful for the playoff win against the Rangers, and the great season, BUT it’s been over 10 years since we really stayed consistent enough to have a chance. Remember back in the day, they’d always count us out, and I’d tell everyone just wait and see. Every year playoffs were a given then. Now, every season I just hope to be pleasantly surprised. It’s not about skill level imo, it’s about chemistry. Arnott line, ZZPops, shoot even Madden and Pando had chemistry. Sad thing is players like Jack are actually among the most skilled we’ve ever had, if he isn’t the best. Yet the idiots in the organization don’t know how to build a team with free agents, or how to draft well. If you have a top draft pick, even an idiot can draft a good player. But we just don’t seem to have people in that front office that want to win at all costs. It’s a shame.
1.2 goals for average last 5 games, 2 of those games we were a fully healthy squad and only scored 1 goal each! I said once and I’ll it a million times, this core is not good enough! We need a roster change throughout and no one should be off the trade list other than Jack and Pesce who actually play well.

Why is this so hard?! Give a team a 2nd, 3rd & Casey to take on Hamilton. Almost any team on his list would take it. MAKE THE HARD DECISIONS! We are a better team without him and then we can use the extra few million on a depth forward that’s good for 15 goals. At least then we’re doing something…
Saw Panthers-Canes game. Man what a team Florida is, 6 guys missing and still no excuses and just destroyed the Canes, a team we can't hope of beating. They got the x factor that true contenders are made of, something this devils core simply doesn't have.
Keefe goes E-W instead of N-S as a system. I’d like to see them attack the middle more rather than be comfortable on the perimeter. At the very least I would like to see what that looks like for this team. You have the players for it in Timo, Noeson, Brown, and maybe Palat.
This is part of what people mean when they say we don’t see adjustments. I want to go back to old tape, but I remember Bratt being more aggressive on attacking the net. It’s rare to see a player that strong on his stick drop off like this and just dangle on the perimeter.
