Le manque de profondeur de but et l’incertitude des gardiens de but vont-ils faire dérailler l’élan des Islanders alors qu’ils se préparent à affronter le Mammoth de l’Utah ? 1. could have/should have L but didn't. nice set-up by 49 on the 64 g. did 49 get a s o opportunity? if not st. roy is a fool. probably 14, 13, 10 again. isles still struggling to score g's. pp remains a clusterfk.
prospects-k. aitchenson has a couple of g's for canada at wjc including a rocket of a shot for a g. ekland scored g for sweden. eiserman for usa.

  2. Continued soft play and lack of attention to detail in their own end. Incredibly passive play in their own end in the final minutes. Team needs scoring but they only have 3 quality defenseman on the ice. It’s amazing that they didn’t have 5-6 goals scored against them tonight. To have any chance of being a playoff threat they will need to add a Top 4 quality defenseman, a top 6 scorer and an enforcer.

  3. Looks like James Hagens has played well for Team USA. Nice to see, even though he's with the Bruins. Looks like Eiserman is struggling a bit.

  4. Let Barzal grow into a grittier player I don’t see a problem at all he’s not the young gun pretty boy anymore that dude is a MAN and he’s grown up

  5. Got out played by a team missing their two best players will not cut it going forward. I do like the third line Roy put together of Shaby,Ritchie, and the cabage patch kid . I was going to give props to the goal post as the 3rd star of the game but I was beaten to that memorable mention. With that said wishing everyone here a happy and healthy New Year

  6. Looks like every time they get up by a couple goals they spend the rest of the game trying to protect the lead instead of playing the way that got them the lead. But a win is a win

  7. Who are the NY islanders? I seem to ask myself this question annually throughout the last couple of seasons.

  8. Need to get the pace going early in Utah, time to shift gears and now this is the time of years for contenders and pretenders in a tight east race. Big 2 points on a sloppy game. Let’s go isles!

  9. Good 🌅, Gil. How are you? The Islanders were outplayed, but they still beat the Black🦅in a SO. They were then outplayed in the 2nd and 3rd periods. You're right it's been a while since they've scored more than 2 goals in regulation. Hero, Bo Horvat for scoring the SO. GOAL, and David Rittich for his performance in net. 🐐COMMUNITY EFFORT for being outplayed for 40 minutes. Congratulations to Adam Pellach and Ryan Pollach both played their 600th career games. Matthew Schafer becomes the youngest defenseman to reach 25 assists. I hope neither one makes the Olympics simply because THEY MIGHT GET HURT. I give it to Barzy for coming to his teammates 🛟; but that's not his thing. Ilya Sorokin's on IR retroactive from December 20. HAPPY 🎂, Neil Coulter. He scored the GW GOAL in a win over the Capitals. Hear from you later, Gil, but before I go, I compared Al Arbour to Michael Corleone after he had no choice but to take over the family business, and Billy Torrey was Vito, who built the empire from the ground up. Also, I compared Trots' fierceness to that of Beth Dutton with the difference being Trots is a silent assassin, while Beth, as we all know, HAS A MOUTH ON HER. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS

  10. Sorokin being hurt is really worrying me rittich is playing great but can he hold up or will we wear him out

  11. It's what I call "Classic Islanders" … they get a 2 goal lead and expect to be able to sit on it … giving the other team chance after chance after chance … then it's tied and they are struggling to find any momentum to try and claw out a tie or win in OT/SO. It's exhausting.

  12. Gm Gil. The Isles need to take a hard look in the mirror because last night's effort wasn't good enough. I am happy with the win but the Hawks deserved the 2 point. How Foligno missed the wide open net with under 2 seconds was incredible. The powerplay in OT was embarrassing … I was yelling at my TV to have Roy call a timeout in the 2nd and give this team a scolding. The team is getting outstanding net play from its goaltenders. I think when Varlamov comes back he becomes expendable. the team's lack of toughness was also on display on last night …

  13. Glad for the 2 points and that we have Horvat back. Darche still needs to make some adjustments without sacrificing the future. Happy New Year Gil. LGI

  14. The hero was the crossbar on that one net. Saved 4 goals against (2 more if you include the Isles shots), including a last second save on Foligno. I thought for sure we would lose in OT because we had to go in that direction but luckily we survived, then changed sides for the shootout. That goal ended the game with a 1.000 save percentage. Very impressive.

  15. Games like these lead me to believe that perhaps their good record is unsustainable and that a collapse is highly likely. One more significant injury can end their season

  16. I’m sorry, but there is something people talked about at the beginning of the season that has faded. I STILL don’t think Roy is the guy to guide this team. We have young talent playing way better than anyone anticipated. We have other talented pieces in Horvat, Barzy, Shabanov and even though we could use a defenseman our defense hasn’t been bad with who we have back there. There is an utter lack of urgency at times, systems that don’t make sense for the talent we have and at some point you have to look at the head of the team which is Patrick Roy. Something is missing there. I don’t claim to know what the answer is or who the answer is but after the sample size we have I’ve seen enough to know it’s not Roy.

  17. Forgot to say happy new year Gil, happy and healthy one to you and your family. Thanks for all your hard work.

  18. Its interesting, I think what your seeing with Barzal is a combination of a few things, he is now older, stronger and a veteran player who is trying to be more of a leader AND he sees a void in that physicality/grit/enforcer Dept so he is trying to fill it…a comparison could be what happens in a dog or a wolf pack where there is no clear Alpha to protect the pack , other dogs will try to fill that role…Its encouraging to see him step up and discouraging that he is the guy because thats not his value to this team…As far as the effort, i know that happens from time to time, but this is starting to become a regular occurrence. Is that a Roy issue? Is that an indictment of some of the veterans leaders? What is the solution?

  19. Happy New Year Gil! A win is a win. However, I still don't see this team getting past the first round. Horvat is on pace for at least 40 goals by the end of the season and, although we have a strong top line, and a solid 2/3 of a second line, we don't have depth and our vets will be exhausted by the time the playoffs roll around. Darche has to play his cards right, and not fall for the "we have a chance to win the cup this year" garbage. We don't. Therefore, if other teams come a calling for Pageau, Lee, duclair (hopefully), even Horvat or Barzal, I strike while the iron is hot. I would even move Pulock and Pelech who are turned things around the past month. Horvat is great, but he's in his prime hockey years and by the time we're ready to compete for our next 4 Stanley Cups, he'll only have leadership qualities to extend to the team. The problem is, if we were to trade Horvat or Barzal, it would be to teams in the hunt for the cup and as such would garner a late round first round pick. And then there's that tricky no trade clause. A happy and a healthy new year to you and your family.
