Raycroft, you don't know what you're talking about. The reason I couldn't afford a house in the lower mainland is exactly because of all the foreign buyers. People from Hong Kong will buy up entire floors of condos as an investment and drive the prices out of reach for Canadians. Yes, there's a speculation tax, but you're exempt if you live there.

I work with someone went to school with a couple of the Aquilini's. Don't remember which ones but he did say one of them is a sleazy dude. They had to win a court case to get ownership of the team. I believe it was the group that now own the Dallas Stars they went to court with. We would have been better off if the ruling went the other way. Look at were the Dallas Stars are now. The main reason for failure is the coach (Tocchet = cannot coach east west), Miller (worst ever and not captain material) and Hughes (puck hog, did not pass, and def never captain material – what a joke). The team is starting to look good with these poisons gone.

The last ten years you're seeing a trend. The Best players are going to States with low or no state taxes. Vancouver is no longer a nice city. Bad weather, junkies everywhere, everything has went downhill over the last 5 years especially. Oh, and the cost of real estate is insane and you loose money if you buy for sure at this point. Other than that's it's as good as most other Canadian city to play in (which means it sucks).

Theres many reasons why people leave Vancouver. Toxic media, toxic fans, the team is losing, bad travel, high taxes. Housing market sucks. Theres very little reason for any free agents to wanna sign here unless you been here for along time and already laid down roots.
