Even if the pick we get for Sherwood is near the end of the first, it’s still a first round pick I 100% believe that ANY first round pick is a good pick going into the draft
6 game road trip awaiting, watch this team win all 6 and ruin the tank 😂😂😂😂😂
Signing Sherwood is valid if all the offers to trade him are bad. From all teams inquiring about him, most are playoff teams or close to a wild card spot so a 1st won’t be worth much. If Boston or San Jose wants Sherwood for a 1st, I would do it. At the same time, you could push for a great prospect like Zach Benson. Hughes likes having him on the team ask Minnesota for Danila Yurov
Sounds like Garland and some others may be on the trade block. The Canucks just need a Zach Benson and someone else great like Hagens, Hage, or Martone. Package Garland and say Demko.
Maybe they should try a hybrid-hybrid instead.
Alternatively, a cap friendly contract might be attractive to boost value. Like the only thing to tank this would be any NMCs, otherwise, whatever
I think Sherwood would make a good captain for the rebuild. Build a hard nosed team culture that no one wants to play come playoffs
Of COURSE they’re making a mistake! They will either: trade him for useless pieces; lose him for nothing; sign him for too much. No faith in this management, tbh. I say sign him for a reasonable price.
You keep Sherwood to build culture. You trade Garland, Pettersson, Boeser, DeBrusk, Demko, immediately.
Team tank! Trade Sherwood!
Boeser is third line player…. Karlsson is way better. Montreal has what Canucks need for Sherwood trade. Xhekaj D and wing from Montreal AHL roster.
Keep him for sure 2-3 years from now when we have young talent he will be the playoff king we need to hit and score
I've read a lot of teams want him but with an extension, so if we sign him to a good enough deal, he is in a way more tradable because the team giving up for him already has an extension in place
It's not rocket science. The whole point of trading a UFA at the trade deadline is because he has value, you can get a return from another team, and you have no use for him for the rest of the year (ie not making playoffs).
If you really like the guy, you can always put in a bid during the offseason and sign him as a free agent AFTER you've recouped something in a deadline trade first. There is no rule that bans you from re-signing a guy in the same year after you've just traded him.
They are holding on to him in hopes the return is a 1st at the deadline +, but clearly that return is not out there otherwise he would have been moved. 2-2nds doesn’t move the needle for the franchise much so they probably just re-sign him…but what could be the hang up in the negotiations is likely not dollars and cents, rather, Vancouver would want full control and at Kiefer’s age he’d want security and stability, coming in the form of term and full no move clause. The question is, do you give him the 5×5 with a full NMC? I say the whole deal hinges on the clause rather than the AAV, and if it were up to me as a manager I’d need to have full control, especially the way he plays and the age of which he plays at. So to summarize, I’d give him the term, which is the 4th and 5th year of the extension in exchange for full control. I’d also name him captain, he could lead the youngens in how to play, and then trade him in year 4 or 5, because that’s what we do…we trade our captains 😅..but yeah-no, who better to teach Cootes than guys like Sherwood and I’ll throw Garland in there as well. That’s where their value really is
A REAL Canucks fan will support this team through thick and thin. Everyone else is just a bandwagon jumper.
All teams will go through boom and bust cycles and the Canucks have gone through their fair share since the 70s. It's just all you young bandwagon jumpers who've never experienced a Canucks bust cycle before. I'll see you again in 5 to 10 years when you decide to hop on again.
Tbh they should still trade sherwood, trade both 1st to move up in the draft
Canucks suck year after year
I have no idea what I want from this team 😅
Why the H would you want to move one of your top 3 forwards??? he is much> Boeser or EP40. To even think of moving a go to guy like him is insane. He should be the Captain
Offer me a 5 overall for him, I say NO, but take Boeser. Please
The idea is to get a good core ofplayers together and DEVELOP them as a unit. Sherwood is a building block
Adam Foote is key for the tank. He is objectively a trash coach. They can't extend Sherwood; if they do, then they aren't serious about making this team good long-term.
PAY HIM. You blew 4 million too much on EP 40 and Boeser, so keep Sherwood. He could still by great at age 35-6 like Marchand. D-uhh
00:40 Then you're not a true fan. This is normal sht for nhl teams. What sports did you play where you & your team were always one of the best in your league?
Without players like Sherwood, you wont go anywhere in the playoffs. The refs dont call anything, and there are too many dirty players out there. You need some size, speed, and physicality.
I’m not so harsh on this seasons Canucks because for the most part they’re putting in a hard days work. For the most part, certain players like Kane, O’Connor, and MP3 have been more of a liability so far than an asset.
I give them more than a grain of salt because for half of the season so far, almost all the time 50% of their roster has been the abbotsford Canucks
About 5 more years of this man. But hey thats what it takes to get the cup. Its better than a Benning style rebuild.
If we can get a first, trade him and any other members of the existing core that don’t want to stick around for why we can get
i like the sanjose rumor. Edm's 1st (mid range pick 18th overall right now) and a prospect like Musty.
Getting Sherwood was one of the few astute trades management has made, so it would be tough to see him go, but they’ve already signed too many term contracts with veterans approaching or past their prime.
You say you like boesser i really hope its cus of the person he is cus as a player hes friikking stinks. worst canuck this season by far, a ghost every game slow both on offence and defence and cant make simple passes cant even shoot anymore. worst resigning ever
